FANFICS

Nightbeat's Casebook: Mystery of the Transformer Decoys   This fic is a round robin creation- one writer wrote the first part, a second wrote the second part etc etc. This was spawned by Martin McVay, based on the popularity of the previous round robin "Whodunnit", set in 1999 when a crew of eight Autobots had travelled to meet Star Saber, a Liege Centuro in the Cybertronian Empire, to discuss peace terms. This time round, we decided to set it soon after Optimus Prime became leader of the Autobot army but before the Ark was launched. It's got Nightbeat in it, and more importantly, part 6 is by James Roberts, writer of "Eugenesis", so you therefore should read this NOW. (Wingspan and Pounce can have their profiles found here; the character Triton, BTW, is not the same Triton as seen in "Telefunken")

Beast Wars: Hidden Repaints    Ah, my very first TMUK fanfic... The idea was spawned when I found out that the Botcon convention stories were part of TMUK continuity- however, those stories contained characters based on repaints of existing toys, and they'd never been in the show. How did THEY fit in to TMUK? With that in mind, Hidden Repaints was created. This introduces Onyx Primal, Packrat, Vice Grip and Fractyl to the Beast Wars & tries to explain away their notable absence from the cartoon. It also contains an adaptation of Botcon story "Visitations" and introduces Antagony. Be warned, it's very raw.

Spark-Eater   Almost a year after finishing "Hidden Repaints", I decided to continue the story somewhat- this time focusing on the Pred repaints instead of the Maxie ones. This fic also gave me the chance to try at writing horror and also to do some work with Rampage, showing just how dangerous and sadistic he could be. Writing everyone's fave psychotic crab was a lot of fun; I also have to say I liked my little scenes of Fractyl and Vice Grip interacting. (Set in the middle of Season 2)

Destroy All Monsterbots   This was inspired by Martin McVay's profiles for them, which mentioned that very little was known about 'em. And he was right- they'd hardly been used in the comics OR fanfics. And I wondered why, because they do have a lot of story potential and rather cool alt modes. So I decided to do some work on the enigmatic Monsterbots, starting with this short story that explains an inconsistency in the Headmasters mini-series- if the M-bot's are such enthusiastic fighters, why did they join Fortress Maximus's mission of peace to Nebulos? (Set during Headmasters #1)

Monsterbots Raid Again   I liked the characters so much, I just HAD to do some more work with them. This is set in the 2 year gap between Headmasters #2 and #3.

Never = Forever One of my fave fics- this is by Mark Stevenson, revealing why the universe hates Waspinator.

News of the World    This fanfic actually has its genesis back in 1995, when Kevin Briggs made a series of TMUK comic stories set in late 1995, involving Transformers all over the world. Unfortunately, it was never completed... until seven years later, when newer TMUK scribe Miles Reid wrote two text stories furthering the NOTW story. Then he threw in the towel too, and finally I picked up the baton, finishing off the series. This stands as my first G1 fic set in the modern day (well, 1995 anyway) and involving many of the bigger guns in G1 lore. It was a blast to write in some bits, especially Trypticon's big scene!

Iacon Noir    Written shortly after I finished Eugenesis. I wanted to write a fic set shortly after Eugen, so I could show the effects of such a war and how it still effected the Transformers. More than that, I wanted to have a got at Autobot politics and fill in the gaps of how Star Saber went from High Command member to dictator of the planet. So we get this little fic set in 2016, as Nightbeat has to solve a vicious series of murders during a time of political upheavel.

Software Wars 1, 2, 3. My largest fic to date- a whopping 50+ pages! This fic was based on a throwaway line in the fic Telefunken- a pre-BW Tarantulus mentions the "Software Wars of 2299". The Software Wars were implied to have been a very dangerous time for both sides in the war, and also have been the TF equivalent of biological warfare. Nobody seemed to be using this, so... Now, Alex Smith did do a prologue for the Software Wars but he never followed it up- I'm using it as a starting point for my fic, so you better go read his one first. The fic uses more obscure characters- most can be found in the bios section of this site, but Whirl, Topspin and Twin Twist are at Unicron.com.

The Rise and Fall of Soundwave   Bridging the gap between The Barricade and Revert, and explaining what exactly happened to Soundwave? From stories set in the 25th Century, it was obvious Soundwave wasn't remember with much fondness, so obviously he'd done something nasty- the Barricade revealed what (leading the Decepticons into a suicidal trap just to get rid of Galvatron) and it went on from there.

Revert  This is what happen when you take a few very boring 2-hour long College lunchbreaks and leave me in them with nothing to do. I decided to tackle a plot hole that had been left wide open- how did Galvatron turn back into Megatron in time for Martin McVay's "Megatron VS Ratchet: Resolution" stories (Inheritance, Fusion and Fission)? He never explained, so I decided to have a go at it. This owes a lot to Martin's fics, especially because I'm using his beloved Special Projects Unit characters; and while I was at it, I decided I also wanted to develop Aquablast and Snipe, two European Decepticons I'd always liked the look of but who sadly never got any fic-time (see the G1 bios on this site).

Fission  Martin McVay reveals how the Decepticons lost the war. Some background for this- in TMUK, Inferno and Red Alert weren't knocked offline when the Ark crashed, but instead spent 4, 000, 000 years watching Earth develop- after the Beast Wars, they rebuilt the Nemesis and used it as a base of operations. The mentions of the state of future Earth tie into Graham's Globequake series at the Hub (which also includes the prequel fic "2386") and also "The Primal Sacrifice" comic strip...

The Great War I- The Continuation Of Politics ; The Great War II- The Hole In The Ground    Back in the 23rd Century, Star Saber had Earth Cyberformed and then he dumped millions of unwanted Maximal/Predacon Neogens on it, their memories altered so they thought they were on the real Cybertron. And eventually, these two races went to war- the "Great War" referred to in Beast Wars. No-one else was doing anything with this period, so I stepped in after being inspired by an idea from Martin McVay. Martin also provided help deciding which characters to use- for you see, the stars of this story are little-known G1 characters that usually show up as background, the cannon fodder in the big important events. Now they're at the forefront where they deserve to be. Their profiles can be found here. This fanfic is very open-middled- I know where I want to end up, but how to get there is not set in stone. Anything can happen and hopefully will, because predictable wars suck.

Aurora Saga, parts 1 & 2 The first two parts of Graham Thomson's "Aurora Saga", following the sister ships of the Axalon & Darkside. It is part of a far-reaching epic that ties into Beast Wars, Beast Machines, the truth about the BW/BM "Cybertron" and the Oracle, the original Transwarp crew, the BM Dinobots and the RiD cast...

Covenant    This is the first part of "Reaching The Omega Point", the Botcon convention fanfic (and YES, us TMUKers refer to it as fanfic). This isn't by me, but I thought I'd put it up for new readers. The rest of the Omega Point story (bar the ending) can be found at www.botcon.com .

Aspects of Rebellion   This was my attempt at writing for the era of Shokaract, which Martin McVay had cornered with his excellent Storyteller series. I also attempted to create some characters. As it turns out, it didn't do very well- I got a grand total of zero feedback. I can see why- I was trying to create a group of heroes ala the Wreckers, who'd fight against a mighty ruler ala Straxus. And that was not what the Shokaract era is. As Martin put it, it's an era of peace and stability on Cybertron, mainly because it's being so heavily oppressed (the TFs don't even remember their own PAST) and the rebels would obviously be far more like real life rebels in such circumstances (read: nasty buggers). Also, nobody really CARES about Shokaract. This fic is being included, however, because some of the featured characters are going to show up in the TMUK version of Armada; also, I like my Widow character & Cohrada.

Storyteller / Storyteller series   Here's the links to Martin McVay's Storyteller story and its follow-ups. They're set Shokaract era, and feature Mirage using his holographic powers to... tell stories, which remind the oppressed masses of their past. YOU SHALL READ THIS NOW.

Veterans   This was a combination of a tribute to the great characters of old and the result of me writing without a real plan for an hour straight. The Veteran was created by Simon Furman for the "Reaching The Omega Point" series, and used to be Swoop the Dinobot. See if you can work out who all the Transformers that show up are.
