They were members of the Spencer Lick Baptist Church in Wilson County. The church is now called La Guardo Baptist Church. He was on the membership rolls of 1811-1830.

In Jul 1836, Nancy placed a peace bond on Charles in Wilson County, Tennessee. She dismissed the peace bond on 9 Jul 1836.
In 1840, the census show Charles McWHIRTER (30-39) living in Wilson County, Tennessee. In his household were 2 boys under 5, 2 boys 5-9; 1 boy 10-14; 1 girl under 5; 2 girls 10-14 and 1 woman 30-39.
