Welcome To My
Buddy Icons Page
Here is a bunch of buddy icons I have created for when I
use Instant Messenger. They have been
created from scratch, using Microsoft Paint and Ulead
Gif Animator 5. I had to draw these
animations frame by frame and then link them together with Gif Animator
software in order for them to animate.
It is quite time consuming, but time flies when you are having fun. I didn’t have any previous experience using
that kind of software, so I had to teach myself how to use it. Mr. Hoppy buddy
icon is the result of a tutorial that gave me the gist of what to do. The rest are of my own creation and if you
read the description next to each one, you can learn where I got the idea for
each. By the way, they are also in the
order in which I created them. If you have any input, let me know Sign Guestbook

Mr. Hoppy: I made this one for Richelle when I was teaching myself how to use the Gif Software. It has like 5 frames linked together; all timed the same, so it looks like the frog is jumping up and down. I didn’t have to draw the frog, because the tutorial came with the five frog pictures. |

Monty Python Buddy: In honor of my favorite movie, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” I decided to make a buddy icon quoting a scene from it. This consists of the five frames you see, all hand drawn obviously, and it didn’t take all that much time to make as compared to some of my others. This is one of the simplest buddy icons I have made. |

Alpha Kappa Psi
Buddy: I don’t know how I came up with the idea of letters that fly away, but one day I sat down with the intention of making a buddy icon that featured just that. This one took quite a while to make. I started out with 64 frames and had to cut it down to 40 because of size restrictions. I linked the start with the end so that it is a never ending cycle of the guy throwing the letters up there, then dancing with excitement, then looking up in surprise as they float away. He then has to go get more letters and throw them up there, and the whole thing happens again! |

Alpha Kappa Psi
Poker Buddy: Another one that took quite a while to make. I started out with 34 frames this time and
had to cut it down to 24 because of size restrictions again. Anyway, this is supposed to be me and some
Alpha Kappa Psi brothers playing poker.
One of us folds and gets up to get a round of beers from the keg, and
then when they come back they pass the beers out and sit back down to play
again. |

Steel Reserve
Buddy: A fair warning to all you freshman out there: “Stay away from Steel Reserve 40’s.” They are 40 ounces of beer that is 8.1%. Drink them like this guy and you will be done for the night faster than you think! 18 frames, and many nights as a Freshman or Sophomore thinking up this one! Hope you all like it. Look! It’s even Transparent! |

Alpha Kappa Psi
Graffiti Buddy: Alpha Kappa Psi in no way supports the defacing of a brick wall with spray paint. But it does make for a cool buddy icon. This one is 16 frames and a lot more work than you think because of the work involved with the brick behind the guy as he walks past and sprays. |

New Alpha Kappa Psi
Logo Buddy: The national office of our Fraternity decided that Alpha Kappa Psi needed a new logo. They also came up with a new slogan. This is the new logo, made into a buddy icon. I took the still image from Nationals website and edited it to 21 frames of motion. |

Hackey Sack Buddy: I’m pretty good at hackey sack. In fact, my buddies from home and I used to play all day in the summer. I thought it was only appropriate to make a buddy icon to pay homage to our leisure activity. It was a little time consuming, and ended being 23 frames long. |

Double Fisted Buddy: The idea from this one came from a still buddy icon that my friend Kevin (or Suz) had. I altered the guy a little and then added all the motion to it. He slams two beers and throws them down, and then asks for two more. At that pace, I don’t think he would last very long! This one took some work to animate, and I had to squeeze it all into 25 frames. I hope everyone thinks it looks okay. |

Drunk Buddy: I got the idea for this buddy icon from Dave Heger. He has a similar one that says “Be a Bum.” His is still and has a guy sitting on a chair with stains all over the carpet and cracks all over the wall. I decided it would be funnier to say “Be a Drunk” and have a bunch of beer bottles pile up on the floor as it animates through its 5 frames. This was an easier one to make, given that I used an idea from an existing icon and added animation to it without changing too much of the picture. |
