| We practice many different things in Hapkido. Each technique helps students to develop Fluid Motion,Circular Motion, and Harmony of Motion, the tenets of our art. Dan Hak: Learning to control Ki energy through breathing exercise, meditation, and focus. In Hapkido, we focus on our Dan Jon, the center of our power. We study its uses, and learn to master our inner strentghs. Ki Bon: The techniques that we practice are fundemental to our deeper knowledge of the body, the mind and the spirit. We practice many different styles of circular an linear techniques in order of us to master ourselves and our advesaries. These are the way, and we learn to respect them, and cherish each one. Yudo: Yudo is the art of throwing. We study the center of the body in order for us to master our manipulation. We learn to throw it off balence it order to gain an advantage over an opponent, and we learn to control our center, so that they can not do the same to us. Nak Bop: The art of gymnastics, tumbling and falling is basic to Hapkido, because it teaches us to protect ourselves from throws and techniques. We study falls, we learn to roll and make ourselves like a feather. We practice complicated gymnastics motions, in order to master ourselves and our inner self. Chigi Chagi: Kicking and punching are part of most Martial Arts. We learn to focus ourselves to strike like the wind of a tiger. We learn control to focus our strikes and manipulate their usage. We study timing so that we know when to apply techniques. Gotgi Danjigi: We learn to apply all of the above, so that we become strong. In application, we learn the inner concepts of ourselves and our techniques. Through Gotgi danjigi, we master who we are and what we can become. Poomse: Through our lessons, we study technique. Through our training, we focus on perfection. Through our concentration, we acheive. The Hwarang and the 10 motions teach us to be Hapkidoin. They are the most guarded techniqes that we have, for in them, we carry our art. |
