Our lineage gives great pride to our students. We have the opportunity to follow the lessons of Master Hong Sung Park, one of the true masters of the Han Mu Do. Master Park studied with Grandmaster Ki Sun Lee in Korea, shortly after the Korean War ended. GM Lee accepted Master Park into his tutalage at a young age and trained him until Master Park had to leave him to serve in the Korean military.
After returning from military service, Master Park returned to find that GM Lee had decided to stop teaching. He found the commercialization of the Gwans offensive and challenged its place in the Martial Arts. The new schools refused his challenge, forcing GM Lee to stop teaching.
Master Park continued to study Korean Martial arts for many years following his time with GM Lee. He successfully holds 9 dan from the Kukkiwon, 7 dan from the Gi Do Hae, and 7 dan from the Hai Dong Gumdo Federation, as well as numerous citations, certificates and other acolades regarding Martial Arts training. He continues to work hard after 45 years of training to continue the Han Mu Do in Salisbury, MD at the Park's Martial Arts Headquarters (founded in 1981).
