>> Trekking & hiking
Choose between different nature trails that will lead your way to the famous waterfalls, the top of the mountain or to a bat cave hidden in the jungle. While walking to the attractions you can learn about plants and trees. Especially for students Chambok is a perfect location to learn about environmental awareness and conservation. Along the path to the forest local women sell drinks and fruits for refreshment during weekends and holidays.
>> Bird-watching and animal tracking
There are about 180 bird species native in the Chambok area and 30 different kinds of mammals. The best time to watch birds is early morning or late afternoon as the air is filled with their singing. Guided tours and binoculars are available at the site.
>> Picnicking
Along the different paths there are several opportunities to have a picnic. Either you can rest on the stones watching the stream or, for more comfort, there are several bamboo huts awaiting you.
>> Bathing at the stream and the waterfalls
On the nature walks following the stream there are countless opportunities to take a cooling bath in the crystal clear water. So be sure to take your swimwear with you! Please keep the water clean and do not use soap or shampoo. The stream is the villagers’ main source of drinking water.
>> Guided tours
Tour guides are available for free upon payment of the entrance fee. These special trained local women and men show you around and will share their knowledge of the nature, history and cultural features of the area with you. All guides are learning English and have basic conversation skills in this language.
>> Ox-cart riding
Ox carts, or 'Rotei koh' as they are called in Khmer, are a common form of transportation, especially in the rural parts of Cambodia. If you would like to enjoy a ride, please book in advance. The price for a round-trip is 2.5$. The service includes a free guide.
>> Visiting a bat-cave
Hidden in the jungle is a cave, home to hundreds of bats native to the region. Bats are an important element of the Chambok ecosystem. They hunt insects like mosquitoes and therefore help to reduce the risk of Malaria and Dengue around the area. Please make sure not to disturb the bats while visiting the cave.
