| The Georgia Department of Human Resources has designated the SCAAA as the Area Agency on Aging for a ten-county region in West Central Georgia. The SCAAA plans, coordinates, and administers programs for senior citizens; it also serves as a vital gateway to information and assistance for aging programs in the area. Program development, coordination and avocacy remain core functions for the SCAAA. Servies available to those age 60 and older include: **Alzheimer Services. This service provides in-home respite care to assist clients and heir families. Limited out-of-home day care is available in the area also. **Community Care Services Program. This service provides vital services to older residents so that they may remain in their own homes. The SCAAA is the Lead Agency for CCSP. **Senior Community Service Employment Program. This service provides training and part-time subsidized employment, as well as assistance to locate subsidized employment for low income enrollees age 55 and older. **Transportation. This service provides access to and from nutrition centers and other community resources through the Georgia Department of Human Resources and it's contractor Other services include: * Adult Day Health Care * Care Management * Emergency Response System * Community Health Resources & Services * Personal Support Services * Respite Care * Congregate Meals * GACARES Health Insurance Counseling. | Bobby Buchanan is the Director of the SCAAA. He oversees, implements and evaluates the AAA's administative functions, keeps appraised of all subcontractors performance in their programs and services, both fiscally and programatically. | Mona Browning is the AAA's GACARES Coordinator. She recruits, trains, and retains a corps of volunteers to help medicare beneficiaries apply for low cost prescription drug assistance, councils them on Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, Long Term Care Insurance, Senior Medicare Fraud, Wast & Abuse. | LeeAnn Thompson is the AAA's Fiscal Ananyst and she collects programmatic and financial data from subcontractors, enters data into the system and compiles monthy financial reports. She is responsible for reconciling payments from DHR. She helps the AAA Director to complete financial sections of the Area Plan. Ext 213 [email protected] |
