Why I'm Here | Photos |
Sometimes I don't know the answer to this question. Part of my decision to be here was because I wanted to experience life from a different perspective. A different perspective spiritually, economically, and culturally. I wanted to experience the universal Church. I could say that I am here because I wanted to help people, but that would give me too much credit. I am sure that I am profiting more from the people that I meet than they are from me. There is a part of me here in search for my vocation in life. Probably the most important reason for being here is simply because God gracefully gave me the opportunity. Not all are blessed with the chance to go away for a year. I was lucky that I didn't amass debts from school and there was no pressing reason for me to immediately get a job. After lots of prayer I concluded that the Spirit was guiding me here. It wasn't a clear voice only a slight breeze that was prodding me (1Kings 19:11-13).
As the year continues, I will learn more about why I'm here and I hope to share it with those around me.
