AIDS Walk
This is a walk-a-thon sponsored by Open Circle to raise money for various non-profit
organizations that care for people living with AIDS or that provide education
in order to prevent the spread of the disease. It is the largest, single fund-raising
activity for many of these organizations. A couple of thousand individuals participate
in this walk each year. Many people participate as part of a team from a church,
business, social organization, etc. Our church has had a team participate for
the last seven years.

Care Alliance
UBC members participate with other University-area congregations (UPC &
UUMC) as a Care Team which is paired with several individuals in the community
who have terminal or serious illnesses and are in need of friendly care and
support. Also, ICA uses volunteers through Connections-a program to provide
transportation to medical and social service appointments to those living with
HIV/AIDS, especially under served populations who have experienced barriers
to those services. Training by ICA professionals is provided to all volunteers
prior to service.
