Online withdrawal
Ever sit around and wonder what life was like before the Internet? I'm reliving those days now. I don't even know how I ever survived the days of a 9600-baud dialup connection. Verizon propelled me back to the Stone Age last week by disabling my e-mail address and leaving me with no lifeline to the world since March 1, while my DSL connection is "moved." My calls to the "help" line reinforce that bureaucracy is alive and well and living at Verizon. Every time I talk to tech support they transfer me to billing. Every time I talk to billing they transfer me to tech support. There are lots of apologies but nothing is actually done. I don't understand why this process is so complicated. My account is supposed to magically be enabled tonight after 6:00 p.m.
If you've been trying to e-mail me, try it tonight. If I'm not back online, they'll be getting a call from me tomorrow.
