Description: The story opens with the murder of Freddy Moran, a drug dealer always one step ahead the law.The murderer is soon caught, but his explanation is shaky, and Detective Lupin begins to suspect that there was another involved in the murder.
Excerpt: "Knew...but didn't expect...a boy..." Moran managed in a weak voice. "But... look. You've murdered, like me." A grotesque grin spread across Moran's ashen face. "Like me..."
Horror-struck, the boy's eyes widened in shock. Like me...like me...echoed over and over in his head as he staggered backwards. He saw the slight, weak movement of Moran's lips, but all he heard was Moran's last words as he struggled to stay upright. He was only vaguely aware of the minute movement of his right hand.
A fine mist of red splattered on the walls, followed by a thick shower of larger drops as the horrified boy pulled the trigger once again in an attempt to silence Moran. A trickle of blood flowed in a thin stream down the side of Moran's head, soaking his patterned blue tie and drenching his white shirt. More blood flowed, adhering to the original path and dying Moran's shirt red. Terror no longer shook the small frame, but left its mark on the tightly drawn face.

Description: In a society revolving around intelligence, a small girl unable to cope with her life opens up to a stray cat.
Excerpt: Void of the hectic commotion of daytime, the streets seemed a dark, desolate world, the only motion existent the rustling of papers littering the roads, initiated as a blast of cold air breezed by. Cloaked by the darkness of the night, a small girl wandered aimlessly down the dusky streets, oblivious to the frosty atmosphere. Her features rendered indistinguishable by the gloom and her tiny frame buffeted by the winds, she seemed neither aware of nor concerned with her purpose as she trudged past mailbox after mailbox.

Description: Four boys spend Spring Break at a mountain house together, celebrating their respite from the pressures of academic life, unaware of the stranger among them with full intent to kill. (Movie)
