Ran Mouri is the daughter
of Kogoro Mouri, the sleeping detective whose reputation was built by Conan.
She was good friends with Shinichi, and obviously likes him. Many fans don't
think she's good enough for Kudo, arguing that she possesses limited intelligence
('consider the hereditary source!', they cry). Ran studies karate.
Like Hattori, Kazuha ,18,
is from Osaka. She's been friends with Heiji since early childhood. Her father
works in the police department.
Shinichi Kudo, 18, was
at Tropical land, a theme park, when he noticed to suspicious-looking men
clad completely in black. After following them, he witnessed an blackmail
exchange. While gathering evidence of the exchange, he was attacked from behind
and force-fed a pill. When he woke, his physical size had regressed to that
of an elementary school student. He now lives at Mouri's Detective Agency,
where he helps the incompetent Detective Mouri solve mysteries in hope of
getting information about the organization that shrank him..
The members of 'The
Detective Boys' include Conan and Haibara, Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsushiko Tsuburaya,
and Genta Kojima. The children are all 8. Genta is the self-appointed leader.
Mitsushiko is interested in science, and may be the smartest of the three
kids. Ayumi is the only girl of the three real children.
Heiji Hattori, 18, is a
detective from Osaka. Hattori used to consider Kudo a rival, but once he found
out about his condition, Hattori decided to set aside their differences and
become friends with Conan. Hattori practices kendo, and is often depicted
wearing a hat.
Professor Agasa is
Shinichi's next door neighbor who helps him out when he's in need. Agasa
created all of Conan's gadgets, such as the shoes, watch, bowtie, etc. He's
also the one who takes care of Haibara, even providing her with her own lab in
the basement.
Shiho Miyano, 18, is the
creator of APTX-4869, the poison that shrank Kudo. Because her sister was murdered
by the Organization, she halted progress on the drug while pressing them for
an explanation. She was taken to the gas chamber, but had an APTX pill in her
pocket, and took it to make a last stand. Surprisingly, her body shrank as well,
and she was able to escape through the garbage chute. From her condition, plus
the fact that Kudo's death was never verified, she concluded that Shinichi Kudo
was still alive, in the form of a child, and set off to find him. Upon reaching
his house, she collapsed from exhaustion and was discovered by Professor Agasa.
