| Hey, we're The Runts, and this is our Story... Created two weeks or so into our 'First Diploma Music Practices' course with intended band members Adam Stone on guitar and vocals, Ned May on guitar, Mat Jeffries (Myself) on bass guitar and Luke Stewart on drums. Due to there being an extremely over the top amount of guitarists on our course bandless wonders Billy Landers and Deane Archer were put into our band. And about an hour later Vocalist Luke Banot was set upon us. This was a wierd situation as the original four member joined together in order to form a ska band, but with our nu members all into completely different styles - with Deane into heavy metal, Luke B into R n B and pop and Billy into U2 (loser, lol) - this made it very difficult 2 establish a connection between these styles but eventually decided on a new age punk style with inspirations from other styles. During our first practice, the same day we were put into this abstract band, a song that billy had written previously had been reworked by the rest of the band and put into a ska punkish style with melodic vocals, which everyone was pleased with at the time, and the band was given the name Cellador which according to Donnie Darko (Adam's favourite film) is the most beautiful word in the world. The band was going great with the exeption of Deane's dislike of the bands choice of music, his inability of playing our harder tunes that we had set him and also he wanted to be in a heavier band. After a week or two Dave Dollings (our tutor) made up another band out of the bigger bands and put him into that band. In early November Ned decided that he wasn't getting what he wanted out of the course and left dropping out of the band. About 6 weeks later we had the unfortunate luck of losing another two band members. Vocalist Luke Banot left to join another band, and guitarist Billy swapped places with another guitarist named Matt Summers. But the four of us played well together and were happy as we were. After finding out about another band in watford named Celladore so we decided to change our name, and eventually settled on Sober@6. And had our first gig about 3 weeks later at the champions bar in St. Albans road. In January another of the original members left the band, this time it was drummer Luke Stewart. We then enlisted the help of young punk drummer and huge Travis Barker fan Lee Pullen, after a week or two he decided to become a full time member of the band. In February, after realizing how crap the name sober@6 was we scrapped it and decided on the name 'The Runts'. Also that month we played our second gig at my 18th, in which we played a bunch of covered after getting drunk off our faces, which was fun. With a couple of small gigs lined-up we are hoping to achieve success in the small time soon and be playing along side bands to the likes of Captain Everything, My Dad Joe and NeverTheMore. Keep your fingers crossed for us, keep checking up on our OUT AND ABOUT PAGE and leave your support in our guestbook and give your opinions and suggestions on the site and band. \m/ Laterz \m/ |
