Errin leads you through a dizzying maze of corridors and stairs with
supreme confidence. "I know this place better than anyone," he boasts,
and notes that by using secret passages (which he knows ALL of) you can
get just about anywhere in the Keep without being seen.
As he leads you along he points out the various laboratories, where
research is conducted. When you try to pause for breath in the chapel,
Errin drags you away. "Come on--let's go get something to eat!" And he
leads you to the kitchens.

"Apple tarts!" Errin exclaims. "Rose-Lyn, can we have some?"
The woman in charge of the kitchens eyes Errin, then notices you. "Very
well. But you'll get less at dinner, young scamp," she warns.
Errin snags two apple tarts and hands you one. Then he leads you off
again through the corridors. He stops at a large door; a deep thrumming
noise seems to be coming from behind it. When Errin pushes the door open
you realize that this must be the furnace room of the Keep.

The heat nearly stifles you, but Errin goes right to the railing and
looks down into the fire-lit depths. "Can you imagine," Errin says,
there was once an actual Skullbearer in here. My great-grandfather
Allanon fought him right here." The boy looks pensive. "Exciting stuff
like that never happens around here anymore."

Finally noticing your distress in the heat, Errin leads you from the
room. After several more passages and stairs, Errin leads you out into
a vast hall. You realize that this must be the Great Hall of the Keep.
The paneled walls are lined with paintings, tapestries, statues
and large
doorways, some of which are open. You notice that where you came in,
the panel is now closed, and no entrance can be detected.
You look up and down the Hall for a while, amazed at all the
fabulous things you see. High above, a row of windows allows light into
the Hall. Through the open doorways, you glimpse more splendor. |
Errin asks if you would like to:
See the Side Galleries?
See the Great Tower?
See the Council Chambers?
