Well, no word from her so far, but I figure I'll give it at least a week before I lose all hope.  It's a bit disappointing, but at the same time the more time that passes, the longer to have to wonder if maybe she was as perfect as I thought; like I said, I didn't get to know her at all.  Still hope she calls though, I think we'd at least be friends.

Meantime, an interesting and somewhat related story to tell.  One of our co-op students, now in her 40s, is originally from China.  Apparently when I was helping do the interviews she passed the word at that time - this would be last September - to a fellow, younger student that it was a young guy doing the interviews, and that student wanted her to keep tabs on me.  If my separation had happened a few months sooner in other words, I might have been introduced to somebody interesting.

However, I'm rather thankful I didn't.  That same student is now married; that having been her goal, since it's much easier to become an immigrant that way.  So, when I'm meeting people I'll have to adopt a policy of checking for wedding rings (thanks for the tip, Dan), AND making sure they're a Canadian citizen.  Sounds like good opening conversation on a blind date, don't it?  'So, what do you do for a living?  Are you a landed immigrant?  Anything to declare?'

I congratulated my friend TS (the male one in Michigan, not the female one here at work) by e-mail this morning on the conception of their second child.  This boy moves fast!  I'm thinking of asking him to send me the schedule of the rest of his life, since it's all going to plan so far.  That, too, deserves some congratulations.

I'm really meaning to share my PEI and Nova Scotia photos with everybody, if I can just get them to upload.  I managed that picture of my niece a couple of days ago, so maybe whatever went wrong has ironed itself out.  I'll either make a link to them from my pictures page or just add them there - a separate page sounds like a better idea, it'll probably load faster.

In testament to learning something new every day: I've been at this web design job for four years and today I saw a page linking problem I've never encountered before in my life.  To get philosophical about it - you've never 'seen it all'.
