I came home last Friday to an unpleasant discovery.  I'd hung a nice framed picture on my bedroom wall when I moved in a month and a half ago, which was fine, but I hung it on a plastic hook that was glued to the wall, and it was only a matter of time.  While I was out it came undone and the picture went straight to the floor - glass everywhere, in lots of nice, small pieces.  But the really bad part was, on the way down it hit the fan plug.  That plug was stuck in the outlet pretty good, so it refused to come out.  Instead the oulet faceplate shattered, the plug cracked, and as evidence of more excitement there was black scorch marks all over the outlet and the plug was partially melted.  So to sum up, I nearly burned down our apartment building.  I guess there's a firebug in me I didn't know anything about.

I took the day off tomorrow.  My aunt and her friend are in town and I'm going to play tourist guide for them.  Fortunately they don't want to do the Parliament Hill tour again, but we'll probably visit the National Art Gallery and the War Museum, and we'll see what else.  I guess that's the best advantage to being the only one in my family living here - you get to show the place off to everyone else.

I've pretty much confirmed at this point that I'm going out east with my parents in July.  It'll be a major camping expedition for two weeks, mostly in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.  So I'll get to see the other side of the tourist coin, including a visit to Louisburg fort which I'm really looking forward to.  I first heard about it way back in grade school but I've never had a chance to visit the place until now.  I'll also be able to verify whether PEI is as beautiful a place as my mom claims it is.

Had a great weekend weather-wise here in Ottawa.  Did I take advantage of it?  Picture me shaking my head dolefully.  Well, not entirely true - I did walk up to the mall and back, both days.  The Saturday was to do some banking and grocery shopping, and I stopped by the library to pick up a card since I was going right by, even though I don't think I'll be using the place for a while.  I also dropped by the music store, hummed and hawed, and went home.  That's why I went back on the Sunday, to pick up the hard-to-find DVD I saw: 'The Lover', one of my all-time favourites.  In fact I'll add it to my archives Favourites list.  I bought it for the Vietnamese scenery -   really!  :)
