ATTENTION!!  Anyone trying to e-mail me at the Yahoo email address above isn't going to get a reply; I can't check it at work (firewall restriction) and I haven't been hooked up at home since the move.  So you'll have to use my work e-mail if you know it; sorry, not posting it here.

The sitting room blinds are installed and ... what a mess I made.  Don't worry, they look good, but there's a few additional holes in the wall now that never needed to be there, and I've had to tie up the bottoms of the blinds (they're vertical) so they don't drag on the floor - should have hung them half an inch higher.  Otherwise they're looking great.  Still have to do the one for the bedroom, but after this beast it should be a cinch.

Proving I recognize worn out clothes when I see them, I donated a bunch of old sweaters and shirts to the March of Dimes yesterday; stuff with worn out collars, faded colours and other things I'd be embarassed to wear.

Cooking is coming along, although I haven't used the book I bought yet.  Did chicken and rice yesterday and it came out rather well, I thought, as did my friend who I invited over for dinner.  I even have leftovers for tonight.

So, I'm thoroughly convinced I can do this now - not that I wasn't before.  I'm starting to establish my routines, though they're still pretty rough; here's the order I do things in the morning so I don't forget anything, etc.  Routines make your house a home, don't they?

I was able to walk instead of taking my first bus home for the first time this year yesterday.  The weather's finally warm enough, though there was a bit of a cool breeze blowing.  I purposely walk as fast as I can to see how flabby my leg muscles became over the winter, but they held up pretty good this year.  I think all the moving had something to do with it, and the cross-country skiing I was able to fit in over the winter.

Plans for my weekend: bring the van in for an oil change, visit a coworker's tomorrow night to take over the world (ie. Risk), and on Sunday evening the crowning moment - to finally meet the clever, quick-witted JM for some in-person repartee.
