Back In The Saddle

Today I actually rehearsed with a band!

It felt good to be playing with a band again,  it has been almost one month since I last practiced or performed with anybody.

Instead of the usual swing music that I had been playing for two and a half years,  we practiced a variety of music.   I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it,  the different styles of music and all.   And the band is good,  very good.    I have no problems whatsoever with the bass player,  his time was dead on and we both "locked in" right away,  which is something I miss for I had many problems with the bass player I used to perform with.

The only bad thing about this current situation is that I get only one rehearsal and then we perform Friday and Saturday at the Hyatt Regency in downtown San Diego.   Very short notice for me,  but the situation was that they had a drummer who left the band abruptly,  then they had another drummer step in but he too left abruptly,  and now I'm here to pick up the "slack" with only enough time to do one rehearsal with the band.   But that's okay.   Even though it'll be a little stressful because of the short notice,  I feel professional enough that I will pull through.   It's just a matter of taking it one set at a time.

I'm just glad to be performing with some great musicians,  that's all.
