The Beverly Hilton

Nate and I left his place around 3:30pm and headed for L.A.

He wasn't feeling too well today,  some kind of flu-bug and he'd asked me to drive again!   Myself,  I was feeling exceptionally well today and looking forward to the gig at the Coconut Club.

I hadn't eaten all day and so we stopped at a nearby fast food joint before hitting the freeway.

The traffic in L.A. today was worse than normal,  which is pretty bad.  We were already in the "express lane" and we still had "stop and go" traffic through LAX airport.

We got to the Beverly Hilton around 5:30pm.   We made it in good time.   Warren,  Dick,  Terry,  and Jamie were already there and had the bandstands set up on stage.

After getting dressed and doing a soundcheck,  we still had time to grab a Cafe Mocha across the street at this Starbucks Coffee House.

For some reason I knew the soundguy was going to do a great job tonight.   They kind of screwed it up last time we were there.   I noticed that the stage soundguy from last time wasn't here tonight,  and the head guy did all the sound and mic placement.   And I noticed the vast improvement!   He had me mic'ed well tonight,  which was great because the second set was being broadcasted live over the radio.

Needless to say,  the show went rather well,  especially for me.  I was feeling very good tonight.

I chatted with some of the "barflies" that made it tonight:   Patrick and his wife Diane, Toni, and Darren were there...

During my solo on Sing, Sing, Sing,  the dancers have an exceptionally good time doing their "jam session circle" on the dance floor.   I used more cowbell in my solo and grooved really hard so that the dancers had some rhythms to lock on to....   It was truly a fun part of the evening.

This was the "official" last gig of the mini-tour for me,  and I was glad when I got home around 3:00am,  knowing that I would have three days of rest before continuing on with the gig schedule.
