At Home In Scripps Ranch

When I came to,  I realized I had fallen asleep in my older son's bed.  I was telling him a bedtime story and I guess we both must have fallen asleep at the same time.   Otherwise,  he would have awakened me in order to finish the story I was telling him.   I don't remember finishing the story!

Lying On The Family Room Carpet

I just realized that I am sick,  I've got some sort of virus.   No wonder I've be rather sluggish all day,  struggling to do things around the house,  struggling to write in my journal.

I listened again to Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5...   a veritable triumph of twentieth-century composition,  at least in my eyes.   I love this work,  and I picked up a new interpretation of it by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras.   To me,  Shostakovich was one of the great composers of this century,  and his music has run the gamut of human emotions from rapturous to the most depressing.   The first movement of Shostakovich's tenth symphony sounds so ominous,  it brings to mind the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps.   I'm positive they could've used this music in Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List",  had John Williams not compose the music for it.

I'm really feeling low on energy today.   I'm actually congested in the throat and bronchial passages,  I wonder if I have a mild form of bronchitis.   I don't really believe in taking anything unless I'm really in bad shape,  and I don't think I'm that bad off,  at least not yet.
