7:45AM PST
At Home In Scripps Ranch

I woke up rather quickly this morning,  bolting out of bed as if I had springs.   I was pretty impressed with myself and I think I am through with my weird sleeping habits  ( from losing so much sleep in Orlando ).   However,  I had a slight head cold with the sniffles,  but it's not bad enough that I would be bed-ridden.

I helped my older son,  Cameron,  get ready for school and saw him off at the school bus stop.   He seemed liked he was in very good spirits today  ( he can be fairly moody sometimes,  and he's a very sensitive kid ).

My younger son,  Jordan and I drove my wife to her Database Software class in Sorrento Valley,  and we had to pass through some horrendous traffic just to get there.   There's no quick freeway from Scripps Ranch to Sorrento Valley,  so we had to take Mira Mesa Blvd.  all the way to her class,  and the traffic is terrible.

On the way to the class we talked about reorganizing the boys' rooms,  and my wife made the suggestion to drop by a Target to pick up some plastic containers for storage.

Jordan is so pampered sometimes.   We gave him my wife's favorite blanket  ( the warmest, coziest blanket in the house ) and he used it to keep himself warm while he slept in the back seat of the car.   He's still on vacation from school and gets to sleep in,  meaning he also gets to stay up past his usually bedtime.

A Discount Store In Mira Mesa

Jordan and I dropped by the local Target and perused the aisles looking for plastic containers.   I found some rather handsome,  blue plastic containers that were not solid but clear,  so you could see what was in them.   I opted to get these and purchased a total of four.

At Home In Scripps Ranch

I cleaned around the house,  reorganized some things,  worked on the web sites,  checked email and practiced on the drum pad during mid-morning.

1:00PM PST
Up The Street At My Sister-in-law's

I dropped my younger son,  Jordan,  off to play with his cousin,  Alex.    Alex is just five,  a year younger than my son.   All of Jordan's friends and his cousin are all in this one block,  so the place is a good hangout for my son,  being that there are no kids near our house because it's a busy intersection...  too busy for kids to be playing.   My Father-in-law and Aunt are always there to watch over and care for Alex while my Sister-in-law is at work.

1:30PM PST
At Home Down The Street

I practiced a good hour and a half,  working on the usual standard rudiments,  this time concentrating on slow practice,  making sure my technique was as perfect as possible.   I think I had a better practice session than usual,  a little more smartly planned,  as I didn't come out right away practicing fast and strong,  but rather built up to a level where I could play faster and not be strained.   This is something for me to do every time,  and it's important to have patience when practicing.

3:30PM PST

My Father-in-law  ( who was watching the kids up the street ) returned with my son,  saying that  Alex was sleepy and was trying to take a nap in bed when my son was trying to "tug" on him so that Alex would play again.   My son was crying and so it was my Father-in-law's cue to bring him back to me.   Well,  after explaining to my son that his cousin needed to take his nap,  he was okay about it and I showed him some "stuff" on the drum pad.   Again,  he was practicing his double stroke roll,  and he showed a bit of improvement.   I was happy for him that he was showing some interest in playing drums.

4:30PM PST
Sorrento Valley

Jordan and I picked up "mom" from her database class.   All went well and she learned a new software database program for use at work.   It's some sort of advanced relational database that I really couldn't relate to,  being that it has almost been ten years since I've worked with databases in the banking industry,  back when I was a young, hot shot RPG programmer  ( a programming language that has since become outdated ).

We were in the mood for some Filipino food,  which we seldom eat nowadays.    So we dropped by a local establishment in Mira Mesa called Valerio's,  a family owned business that has the best Filipino food  ( at least to the best of my knowledge ) within a twenty mile radius.

Specifically,  we were in the mood for Chicken Adobo and Chicken Ciupao....   very tasty!  And we picked up some Pan De Sal,  just freshly baked.   As good as this food can be,  we know what's in it,  and that's why we don't eat too much Filipino food because it CAN be very fattening,  so one must be very careful not to over-indulge,  which is very hard to NOT do when eating Filipino food,  of course.

9:30PM PST
Borders Books and Music

I was surprised to find the Borders in Carmel Mountain Ranch so crowded,  but then again maybe not.   It's a Friday night and I can see "yuppies" and "bookworms" flocking to a store like this,  browsing the latest books and music,  drinking cappucino in the store's café.   It all makes sense, really.

I helped my older son,  Cameron,  find a science book in the childrens'  section.    With him really being into science lately,  it was easy to find many books that were possible options.   He found books on:   Mummys,  Archaeology,  Our Solar System,  Ancient Egypt,  and Electricity,  all of which were very interesting to him.   He wanted all these books however and I had to tell him that  we could only buy one this time  ( being that these books were all $18.00 each! ).   I could've easily spent $100.00 just to satisfy his newly found "thirst for knowledge",  but my wife and I decided only one book would be sufficient for now  ( there's always the public library ).

So, my son selected the book entitled "Electricity",  a good choice for a "budding" scientist.   I don't know whether he will become a scientist or not when he grows up,  but it's nice to know he is interested in reading books and studying Science.   I,  myself,  went through a similar phase when I was a kid,  studying and reading Science books because they were fascinating and they opened up my eyes to a lot of things.   I guess it's just nice to know how things work or what makes things work,  just so you know...
