Getting
New Glasses
7:55AM PST
I woke up rather early for a night person
like me, and my wife was wondering what I was doing up so early.
Well, I heard someone crying and this woke me up, and so I
ran downstairs wondering what all the fuss was about. Apparently
it was my older son who was pretending to cry, just for the fun of
it. Well he has potential to be a great actor because I really
thought he was crying.
09:00AM PST
I drove my wife to work this morning,
and it was sunny and warm, up until the time we hit a fog bank.
It was rather eerie, how everything seemed sunny and nice and then
up ahead was this wall of fog, and when we plowed into it there was
no more sun!
11:00AM PST
After cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen,
living room, shower and bathtub, it was off to do some gardening.
I realized that my "spring cleaning" projects have taken up a rather considerable
amount of time. "Hire a part-time housekeeper?",
I thought. Well, it's very tempting. I now
have this cold and sore throat and have worked pretty hard these past few
days, just cleaning house alone. So, I suppose
the best way to look at "housekeeping" would be to "pace" myself.
So that is what I'm going to do from now on, and take it step by
step, otherwise... I'm going to go bonkers trying to
do it all in the next few days... there are other things to
do in life.
01:00PM PST
After lunch my younger son and I played
"Crash Bandicoot - Warped" on the Sony Playstation. Afterward,
I practiced drum routines on the pad (I had been practicing routines
here and there throughout the day, my practice pad is set up in front
of the TV so that I can practice while watching CNN or whatever's on).
My son was very interested in practicing on the pad, so I let him
and then showed him how to do the basic single stroke roll and double stroke
roll. He's starting to get the double stroke roll almost to
the point where it really IS a double stroke roll. It's good,
and he seems more interested in learning the drums than my older son,
but I don't want to push the kids and whenever they're interested,
I'll teach them.
03:05PM PST
I had picked up my wife at 2:45PM and we both went to Dr. Phung, our optometrist. We both needed new glasses. Me being "legally blind", I have been wearing glasses since the first grade, and I have been wearing contact lenses since my freshman year in college. We both had eye exams, then we checked out most of the frames they had available. We both settled on these black wire frames, but each of us having our own specific brand and design, but essentially black wire frames. I was glad to have finally ordered glasses,
as I had been wearing contact lenses [only] for several years.
It'll be nice to have the glasses as a back up in case I lose a contact
lense.
07:30PM PST
My wife and I watched a foreign movie entitled "Waking Ned Devine", an Irish movie about a old man who wins the lottery and dies when he finds out, and the small town that schemes to claim he's alive so they can split the 6.5 million pounds. I really enjoyed the last half of the movie, and it was quite funny. For some reason however I was falling asleep during the first half. And, I was stumbling over some of the dialogue, since I was having a hard time understanding the heavy Irish accents (it was almost like a foreign language to me, even though it was supposedly in english). Most of the people that arrived to this
theatre were here to see "Shakespeare In Love", and we were tempted
to see it again tonight. I think that if we do see a movie
tomorrow, it will be "Shakespeare In Love" again because we loved
it so much.
10:15PM PST
After "tucking" the two boys into bed and telling them a bedtime story, my wife and I browsed the Web together looking for some movie sites. My wife checked out some Joseph Fiennes web sites, and she was surprised to find some web sites done by some loyal yet fanatical admirers. I tried to get caught up with my email, but I just have too many messages from the mailing lists, and I'm just trying to work through all the incoming messages, little by little. I took a hot bath and read some magazines.
I checked the websites and incoming email messages one more time before
turning into bed. It had been a rather busy day for me again,
and I was feeling the soreness and exhaustion by the end of the day.
Maybe tomorrow I will take it a bit more easier.
