THU  6.18.98      The Hi Ball Lounge - San Fransisco

We made our first stop at the Grapevine for gas and food.   I forgot what time it was,  perhaps 3:30am?   Once in the San Joaquin valley,  we continued until we reached a rest stop somewhere near Stockton.   I remember looking up at the sky and watching an early dawn.   A crescent moon was up and two planets visible,  one close to the moon and one closer to the horizon.   It was a beautiful sight because it was so early in the morning and very quiet.

We stopped in Livermore at a local Bakers Square for breakfast at around 8am.   Afterward breakfast we hit a little bit of the morning rush traffic,  and we arrived in San Fransisco around 10:30am and got to our destination,  The Andora Inn,  about 11am.   We were all tired from the all-night trip and we all pretty much "crashed" once we got to our rooms.

By mid-afternoon we had to get ready for two gigs tonight.   We got to the Hi Ball Lounge around 4pm,  set up the stage and had dinner at an Italian restaurant called Little Joe's.   We performed our first gig at the Hi Ball,  a private party for a local radio station.   We played from 6:15 to 8:00.   Afterwards,  we walked around a bit and got ready for our next gig at the Hi Ball.

We performed from 9:45 to about 1:30am.   This made for a long, grueling day for the band,  and during the last set I felt my right knee begin to give out on me.   I was in serious pain!   I didn't know what I was going to do since this was only our first night in SF.   After the gig I just watched the other band members load the instruments into the van.   I felt rather helpless,  not being able to do anything,  but I guess I had to rest the knee as much as possible.   We still had a long week ahead of us.   We got back to the Andorra Inn late and we all "crashed".
