gearing up for arizona
I'd say the band had a good rehearsal tonight. We learned three more songs; one from Tom, the other from Hollywood, and an arrangement of That Ole Black Magic brought in by Dick. We've covered a lot of the logistics for the Arizona tour. We're going to rent two large vans again, one for all the equipment and the other for the band members. Here's our itinerary for the Arizona tour:
The Bash on Ash - Tempe Friday July 24
Arizona Athletic Club - Tempe, AZ
I have a real good feeling coming into this Arizona tour. It's just that I'll be away from home, which I'm not too enthusiastic about, especially since I'm going through some sort of phase where I just feel like staying at home with the family and working on projects. And I've been getting into alot of reading lately and listening to music. The thing is, I like to do these things in the privacy of my own home. But I'll have plenty of time to do some reading on the road. It's just not the same.
I'm trying to rebuild my inner self by reading alot and listening to music that is totally apart from the swing / big band thing. I'm also trying to practice more piano than drums now, although I haven't neglected the drums at all. The last few days I've spent some time in reflection and meditation as a part of building up my inner strength and confidence. And I've been spending my time painting the house, which ironically, is very therapeutic to me, as long as I'm not worried about deadlines and just taking my time about it. I know my depressions and anxieties are something I need to deal with constantly, but I feel good that I'm taking steps to work on this. I'm feeling better today as far as my inferiority complex is concerned. For years I've always felt inadequate and inferior, perhaps because I have talents that are really intangible in the "real world". I just have to be ME and not worry about what others perceive ME to be.
