a poetic journey
about me

MON      07.06.98             chuck e. cheese please

I woke up at 11:30am today and got off to a slow start.   Made some coffee to wake me up,  called the school to let them know that Jordan wouldn't be in school today,  he was still on his way home with his mom and brother from Santa Barbara,  by train.

Picked up my wife and kids at the downtown Amtrak Station at about 1:10pm.    Amanda,  my niece rode the train with everybody and she was going to stay with us for a few days.

My wife and I took the boys to their swimming lessons at 3pm.
Amanda tagged along.   I went to the credit union to deposit some checks.    Afterwards,  took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's,  per the kids request.   We focused our attentions on this mini air hockey game.   Amanda was quite good,  although I really could've wupped her in this game,  I went easy on her and played a more defensive game.   My youngest son played me and was quite good also.   He just had a problem with accidentally hitting the puck into his own goal.   Other than that,  he had some pretty good bank shots going into my goal.

The gig at Sea World was fun yesterday.   However, there wasn't quite as many people as the last time we played there.   I assumed that was because people were on their way back home from the 4th of July weekend and we played on the day after 4th of July,  so we missed the real crowds of people that went there for the spectacular fireworks show.   We did have at least a half dozen people that came to see us from the last two Croce's gigs,  and they took advantage of the fact they had summer passes to Sea World.   I expressed my appreciation for them coming out to see us again.

I was able to do some chores around the  house.    My sons and I washed the minivan together,  a little male bonding ritual that was more fun for the boys that it was for me.   I think the younger one loved spraying water in areas other than on the vehicle.

In summary,  I had a rather restful day today.   I got caught up on a few things that needed to be done around the house,  I was able to rest my knee from the stresses of drumming,  and I was able to catch up on updating the web site.   Next week the band will be on a week long vacation  (finally!)  and that will definitely give my knee a rest.
