A Brief Business Meeting

Our band had its first financial and business meeting for the first time in God knows how long.

The meeting went well, and we discussed our financial standing, our future studio recording, trying to set goals for upcoming key shows, and just overall improvement of the band as a whole.

Everyone Gets Offended

There's always the usual bickering about this or that.  I guess part of the problems are that we are picking each other apart.  But that's the only way musicians get feedback about how they're playing.   The problem is that some guys in the band get offended and think the other guy is wrong.  Either way, my stance was to live and let live.  I figured I was talented enough that no one should really mess with me, especially if they had problems of their own.  Anyway, guys in the band would keep correcting me on how I played, and I would take it and move on.  But after spending almost 2 years with this band, I noticed that it didn't seem fair that I was getting a lot of criticism for my playing when I thought I was doing exceptionally well on stage!  And a few guys were habitually making mistakes and nobody would say anything.  Very unfair!  So that is the point where I said to myself "enough is enough".  How could people continue making the same mistakes on stage and get away with that.  And on top of that, don't they have the ears to hear what they are doing wrong and correcting it?  So began my mission to follow the path of fairness and if people made mistakes, I would bring it up to them the same way they brought up stuff about me.   The problem at this point however is that people get offended, or they don't want to lose their job so they create this front like I am the one who's wrong even though I noticed the problem to begin with and brought it up.

Well, what do you think about this whole band dilemma?  Am I wrong in bringing up problems that individual musicians in the band have, or should I keep my mouth shut, even though these same guys seem to bring up stuff about my playing, which is only subjective and doesn't really deal with me making any mistakes?
