The band had a gig up in Anaheim tonight.   A place called Hop City.   A nice venue for having swing jam sessions.   But there was hardly anybody there and I was wondering what had happened.   Well it turned out that the one who hired us booked two bands on the same evening,  us and another band from Seattle.   Of course Jamie insisted that we booked the gig first.   I was beginning to think that maybe we should have blown the gig off.   Seattle?  I said to myself.   I looked at the flyers and saw that Hop City was having a swing night all right,  but it just said "swing band tonight"!   No wonder nobody showed.   No one knew we were coming!   And on top of that,  there was swing at The Majestic Theater tonight and a dance contest and a best dressed vintage contest with cash prizes.   No wonder our gig was slow tonight.   At least Bernard,  the California Lindy Hop champion was there.

I didn't have my act together today.   I blamed it on the heat and humidity.   I forgot some things on the way to the gig tonight.   I forgot my wallet,  and my hi-hat holder that holds the top cymbal in place.

The sound guy didn't seem to like me much.   I mean he threw out these negative vibes,  so I was trying to figure out if he was prejudice or he just didn't like my face.   Anyway,  at the end of the gig he seemed to be making amends and complimenting the band and all.   He seemed to be directing some indirect compliments at me but I just ignored him.

This week is going to be a very busy week for the band.   Tomorrow is the TV shoot for this new pilot series called "Cookin".   On the same day we had our gig at Schooner's.   Thursday is a day off.   Friday is the Big Bear Swing Camp.   And Saturday we have the CBS Morning Edition interview and mini-gig that's going to air.   That Saturday night we have another gig at the Catamaran.

This new Big Time Operator mailing list is a nice thing that I've started.   The list keeps growing and I'll be the one to manage the list fom time to time,  and as I have the time.

I saw our band schedule on the web,  and it showed that we're planning to do another tour of Arizona in the month of October.   There'll be another tour to San Fransisco and possibly to Portland,  Oregon and Seattle, Washington.   I was also enthused to find that we may be gigging at Disney World before the New Year's Eve show there.
