Oops!!!   No Swimming Lessons

I got up late this morning around 11:30AM.

My immediate concerns were to get the boys ready for their swimming lessons which were scheduled two days in a row.   I found this rather odd,  but we were working with our swimming teacher's hectic schedule.
Well sure enough,  by the time we got there at 1PM,  she was completely surprised and apologized several times that she just forgot about today's scheduled lesson!

I didn't have to do anything,  my wife pretty much chewed her out for getting the kids all excited about their swimming class only to find there wasn't one!   I could tell she felt pretty low after we told her that she didn't even bother to call telling us that the class was cancelled.   And just yesterday she was PMS questionable,  and made a remark that one of my son's nails need to be trimmed,  which I though was kinda inappropriate and none of her business.   What goes around does come around sometimes,  and now she was feelin' pretty embarrassed that she had completely forgotten about the kids' swimming lessons.

Now I hope she settles down a bit.  I mean,  this young twenty-something probably registered for her classes at San Diego State and probably couldn't get every class she had hoped to get this fall semester.   She is taking on a lot of students,  which I understand,  I know she's got to cover for her tuition by taking on extra work.   And she's maybe a little stressed out because she'll be starting school in a few days.   I understand all that.

So,  with all the chaos that's been going on in her life recently I guess we could forgive her for her blunder.   It happens to the best of us,  but  this is the very reason why I think it's wrong to critique people if you can't back up your own stuff.   If you expect people to be perfect,  then you really have to be perfect yourself.

The Nor-Wilbur Wedding

We performed in a wedding reception today at Rancho Valenica,  a resort just a few miles from the Del Mar Fairgrounds and just on the way to Fairbanks Ranch and Rancho Santa Fe.

It was extremely humid today!   Way too much humidity for San Diego,  which is known for it's dry heat in the summertime.

With the heat and humidity there came the occasional debates about how to set up the stage,  and the sound problems that sometimes occur.   I didn't have a riser for my drums so I started whining about being seen,  since my wife was telling me that I wasn't seen at the Del Mar Fairgrounds show.

After setting up we were provided food and beverages,  and asked to hang out in the fitness room and locker rooms until the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour was finished.

While waiting, some of us saw a hot air balloon directly overhead and it appeared to be landing.   I know it was getting closer and closer to the ground.   Warren started yelling at the balloon,  "how many are you?"  We were all laughing out loud after they apparently did not understand what he was saying and just waved back.

The gig was pretty much straight forward.   We announced the wedding entourage,  performed our two sets and we were outta there!   We were a little confused though,  for after we were done they had the string orchestra,  which played earlier during cocktails,  and they played the rest of the gig while we got to go home.   I thought to myself,  "Shouldn't this have been the other way around?".   I didn't complain,  and promptly after the gig,  I went straight home to be with my wife and kids.
