SUNDAY      08.02.98           a day of reflection

Ahh...   what a peaceful day today.   No gigs.   No rehearsal or work of any kind.   I just made sure I took it easy today.   I finally got caught up on some of my email and worked a bit on the website.

The gig at Disneyland was successful and we pretty much got positive feedback from the audience.   Bobby,  Nate's wife didn't have very encouraging words about the band's overall sound,  but then again,  she's usually pretty critical.   But it's good to get criticism;  what needs to be worked on and improved.
People can live in a bubble where they set things up so that they can't  fail,  or they may form impressions in their own minds where they think they are okay with something when in reality,  they may need to improve.
I definitely do not fall into this area,  for I myself am just too critical of my own playing and my own self worth.
But this is something I have to deal with from time to time.   At Disneyland last night however,  I didn't experience failure of any kind,  for I really did great on my solos and the audience gave me rousing applause in appreciation of my efforts at trying to create something seemingly perfect.

I joined Royal Crown Revue's mailing list today.   It seemed that it would be fun to connect with the swing scene out there;  to be able to get feedback concerning the other bands in this neo-swing scene.   I've always respected RCR as a group that has brought swing back to a younger audience.   If it weren't for their existence I don't  think this swing revival would be what it is today.
