Vampires

1. Immortal Blood Drinkers

The vampyre found most often in fantasy and horror novels.  Tales and descriptions vary as to whether or not this vampyre drinks blood to survive or just for the taste.  Some descriptions allow for the vampyre to die if conditions are right (stake through the heart, exposure to sunlight, suicide by fire) but they are immune to most common causes of death.

2. Mortal Blood Drinkers

Mortal Blood Drinkers have no real claim to the species other than they drink blood.  Blood drinkers are quite prevalent in our society.  Some claim that they "need" blood and actually manifest symptoms of illness (which vary by individual) when they have not "fed."  Mortal Blood Drinkers take only small amounts of blood from willing donors using sterile equipment such as razors, syringes, and other implements.

3. Unintentional Psychic Vampyres

The most common type of 'vampyre.'  Again, this term is used loosely as there is no ancestral heritage to a true vampyre.  Psychic vampyrism is the ability to take energy from (or give energy to) other sources, such as people, plants, and animals.  Most average human beings are capable of psychic vampyrism and do it on a regular basis.  Those born after 1965 are most likely not only have and use this ability, but are much stronger than any other generation.  With even a small amount of training, most of these 'natural born psy-vamps' can elevate themselves to the next category.

4. Intentional Psychic Vampyres

This 'vampyre' is the most dangerous and most common.  The intentional psy-vamps can come in a manner of descriptions and can look like the kid next door (and most likely is).  This psyvamps is either one who has unusually strong natural ability and is aware of it or is one who has trained to develop the skill.  Unfortunately, most of these psy-vamps are unaware that the ability can be used not only to harm but to heal.  These psy-vamps can, to a greater or lessor degree, control others by manipulating their emotions (done by changing their energy).
As we begin our journey into the realm of the vampyre, please bear in mind that just like anything else, there are many different types of vampyres. There is no universal definition or stereotype, each person (vampyre) is different in their practice, methods, and manners. Presented here are many of the different historical vampyre references as well as some modern day definitions and examples (such as above).

The Kindred

The Kindred is a real life vampyre somewhat related to the immortal vampires we know about but not with the same power of eternal life. Kindred have unique powers, empathy and magic being among the strongest. Each Kindred is their own individual with their own unique powers.

Disclaimer:

Some vampyres drink blood, others do not. Some vampyres say that this is the only way to determine a real vampire. I personally do not care who is a real vampyre and who is not. LARP/RPG vampyres are not typically thought of as being real vampyres but there are always exceptions to the rules. These vampyre pages were created for educational purposes not to determine who is and who is not a vampyre.

Immortal Vampyres:

There are people who claim to be immortal vampyres having lived for hundreds of years. There is no proof to substanciate these claims. Nobody who claims to be this particular type of vampyre has ever been able to show enough proof to substanciate their existance. If there ever is a substanciated claim it will be listed in the credible newspapers rather than just the tabloids.

Vampyres By Birth:

These are the vampryes that claim to have been born with a craving to drink blood. They are supplied by donors who are willing to fulfill the vampyre's needs. This is usually done by making a small surface wound with a razor or by taking the blood through a hypodermic needle. This practice normally do not produce any scars. Sometimes this type of vampyre can trace their vampyrism through several of their ancestors. At first, they may not know or understand why they have so many differences from the average person. They may also become influenced into thinking that their cravings are not normal and wrong.

Viral Vampyres:

These are people who claim to be "turned" into vampyres by a virus that is passed through bodily fluids. The transmission is usually deliberate and ritualistic. The fledgling will almost always have a near-death experience before gaining the heightened vampyric senses.

Spirit-Influenced Vampyres:

These are humans who claim to have exchanged partial control of their body with a spirit/demon for heightened vampyric senses. The spirit/demon while in control of the person's body may perform evil acts that can leave the human with a sense of remorse.

Psychic Vampyres:

Some vampyres claim to use their mind and body energies to "feed" from and manipulate the "life-force" of those around them. This often includes controlling humans and other non supernatural beings, reading minds, and generally getting what they want. Most vampires can do these things, so they could all be classed as psi-vamps. However, unlike the other forms of vampyres few psi-vamps actually drink blood and the heightened vampiric senses do not occur. Some psi-vamps can manipulate situations to bring on an emotional high so that they will have something to feed from. They may also have the ablility to choose which type of energy they take. A psi-vamp may leave people around him feeling drained until he learns to control his/her feeding habits. Sometimes a psychic can tell if a person is a psi-vamp.
