| Plenty of blood and gore and plenty of action but I was led to believe that Blade was a movie that shouldn't be missed but unfortunately I was disappointed with what I saw when I watched it. Blade is basically a comic book story that has been put on film, it's kind of The Matrix but with vampires with an ending very similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark with Wesley Snipes being the avenger trying to get rid of the vampires with his collegue Whistler. The special effects are impresive but they ocassionally looked a little overdone and even lame sometimes which gave them the opposite effect and so they looked a bit crappy. It's got some good action sequences and some good martial arts but I found myself looking at the clock a lot towards the end hoping that it was nearly finished which isn't a sign that a film is really grabbing hold of my attention like a thief in the park. The action, although it was pretty good, didn't necessarily thrill or excite. Blade2 is out in 2001. Maybe it will be better.
