Bucks U19 v Herts  U19

It was the final game of the season and despite a promising win in the first game of 2001 Bucks U19's had underachieved in the games that followed. The team were determined to prove their worth in the last game.
Bucks won the toss and elected to bat. Despite loosing an early wicket Bucks put in a gutsy performance with the bat. Kate O'Neill put in another powerful performance with 22 runs. The tail end (Ros West, Jen Curtis and Helen Turner) batted well towards the end of the innings managing to see out all but 2 balls in the 40 over game. Bucks were all out for 115.
Herts batsmen struggled who score against some aggressive bowling and tight fielding by the Bucks side. Kate O'Neill got the fist break through for Bucks bowling 8 overs for 14 runs and 2 wickets. But, by far the performance of the match was by Shanique Yearwood who bowled 8 stunning overs for 18 runs and 4 wickets (all bowled out), including a hatrick attempt.
RESULT: ucks 115 all out, Herts 87 all out

  Bucks U19 v Middlesex U19

Due to lack of availability of players Bucks were forced to put out a severly weakened side for their match against Middlesex. Middlesex won the toss and put Bucks into bat on a difficult batting surface.
Bucks struggled to find the runs with Judith Turner top scoring with 23. Some top class bowling from Beth Morgan (4 overs, 4 runs, 4 wickets) kept Bucks to a very low score of 70 all out.
Middlesex were dominant with the bat and Bucks struggled to hold  them back. L. Joyce batted well for 36 until she was run out by Judith Turner. Middlesex reached their total easily in just 11 overs.

22/6/01                                                                                               Horsham
Bucks U19 v Sussex U19

Sunday 22nd July saw Bucks meeting Sussex at the pituresque county ground of Horsham CC for what was anticipated to be a close game. Winning the toss and electing to bat Bucks opener Amy Newman got us off to a good start making 16 before being bowled. There followed a fairly quick loss of wickets with Judith Turner going for 12, Isa Guha also 12 and a gutsy 1 from captain Danni Warren. When Kate O'Neill came in she steadied the side batting solidly for her 25 before being caught. The wickets then tumbled and 95 was the not so grand total off 28 overs.
Not really enough to defend but Bucks got off to a great start with Isa Guha taking an amazing catch in the second over and then took a wicket in the third over. Sussex were now reeling at 8 for 2 and Bucks appeared to be in control! However good batting performances from Wakefield 34*, Keyes 19 and Walker 24* meant Bucks could not capitalize on the early pressure and Sussex made it off 24 overs. Bowling highlights were Isa Guha 1-9 off 8 with 3 maidens and Judith Turner 1-18 off 6.
RESULT:Bucks 95 all out, Sussex 96/3

Sussex Win

After a delayed start due to wet weather and lost players Bucks won the toss and had no choice but to bat due to players still being en-route.
Bucks battled hard for runs but despite managing to protect their wickets they only managed 99 runs from 40 overs. Batting highlights came from Judith Turner 18 and Isa Guha 33*.
Surrey batted solidly with Emma Jones scoring 34 and Sarah Clarke reaching 35*. Despite some agressive bowling from Danni Warren (7.2 overs, 17 runs, 1 wicket) and Isa Guha (7.2 overs, 17 runs). Surrey reached their target easily to win the game.

24/6/00                                                                                   West Wycombe
Bucks U19 v Hampshire U19

The start of the U19 county league for Bucks was as sizzling as the weather! Winning the toss and electing to bat Bucks lost their 2 opening batsmen Amy Newman and Kate O'Neill with 33 on the board. However a strong partnership by Judith Turner 38 and Isa Guha 33 set the team on course and although the tail enders collapsed Bucks made 147 all out from their 40 overs.
Hants were soon on the rack and could make little progress towards their target. Fine bowling spells from Isa Guha who although not taking any wickets managed 3 maidens off 7 overs with a paltry 9 runs being the cost! Excellent bowling by Judith Turner 4 wickets for 23 runs off 6 overs and Kirat Kang 3 wickets for 7 runs off 5 overs meant that Hants struggled. They could only manage 76 off 32 overs. This was an excellent start to the season and was a real team effort. Our congratulations to Danni Warren for her captaincy.

RESULT:                       Bucks 147 all out                   Hampshire 76 all out

Herts went in to bat needing to reach a rain affected reduced total of 60 runs to win from 29 overs. Despite tight bowling from all the Bucks bowlers (notably D. Warren: 8 overs 17 runs 1 wicket, and K. O'Neill 6 overs for 11 runs and 1 wicket). Herts looked to be heading for an easy victory. Herts needed 4 runs from their last 2 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
