CHESHAM HIGH SCHOOLv DR CHALLONER’S HIGH SCHOOL

Played at DCHS 04 15.03.

The final , proved to be a local derby, yet it was the first time both teams had met at U13 Schools level and first blood went to Dr Challoner’s! Chesham High opened the batting with Geargie & Imogen, but with10 runs on the board Abby bowled Georgie, celebrations were short lived as Hannah came to the crease & immediately set about building a stand with her sister. Linell had other ideas sending down 5 dot balls, then Hannah(10) fell to a stunning catch held by keeper Astrid, off Rosie. With Captain Carys arriving at the crease runs flowed for  Chesham as she skilfully found the gaps in the field…. with 8 coming from the last over, Chesham High posted  a total of 59-2 Imogen 19n.o. Carys 16n.o.

After 3 overs of their reply Dr Challoners were ahead of the run rate, but when Alex(8) hit a firm catch to Carys off Imogen,  the scoring slowed. The strength in depth of the Chesham bowlers showed, they were helped by great support in the field, especially from Fiona at backward square leg, runs were slow to find. Eventually DCHS  took chances and scrambled some close runs, Chesham held their nerve & claimed 2 run outs…. then a third as Abby, who had made Challoners top score of 12 runs, was their next victim! Emily was not out 6 at the end but Challoner’s were by now 20 runs adrift.

CHESHAM HIGH    74-2            Dr Challoner’s 54-4

Many Congratulations to Chesham High a well deserved win  from a talented squad.

Our umpires for this  match were  Bucks Under15 team manager, Eileen Powell of Gerrards Cross Ladies CC and Paul Atkins the Bucks Mens Captain. Eileen also gave her congratulations to Chesham High &  presented the Cup to Carys Webster, the winning  captain.

UNDER 13  PRELIMINARY  ROUNDS

According to the ECB rules for this competition the fielding team gains 3 runs for each wicket taken. As a result, the finishes are often very tight as both team’s totals change….often right down to the last ball!

CHESHAM HIGH  v CHESHAM PARK v MISBOURNE

Played at Misbourne 26.02.04

CHESHAM PARK v MISBOURNE: Chesham Park openers Sadie & Paige batted sensibly against a nervous  Misbourne attack. Sadie retired after a well crafted 20 & Paige fell to a catch on 9. Then Kim chipped in with a useful 7n.o.  Misbourne’s bowling posed many questions as Lauren only allowed 1 run from her 2 overs & in the  final over Heather bagged 3 wickets!  When Misbourne batted Heather was their main runmaker, retiring on 20. Aisha & Kim were kept busy in the field as Misbourne were held  behind the necessary  run rate, finishing on 41-1.

CHESHAM PARK 63-3           MISBOURNE 41-1                                                  CHESHAM PARK WIN

CHESHAM HIGH v CHESHAM PARK: Batting first Chesham High demonstrated the strength of their batting line up as their top 4 batters were each retired on 20 n.o..The High knotched a confident 90-0, despite lefthand bowler Sarah posing a few questions. For the Park wickets fell regularly, 3 run outs being a reward for the High’s  alert fielding. Caira took 2 wickets & the other bowlers shared the rest as The Park fell away for 40 runs.

CHESHAM HIGH 90-0                CHESHAM PARK 40-7                                            CHESHAM HIGH WIN

CHESHAM HIGH v MISBOURNE: Once again Heather batted soundly, this time against the sparky Chesham High attack but with only 10 runs from the first 4 overs Misbourne were always under pressure. Rachel took the first wicket in the 7th over, & Hannah struck again in the next. Misbourne finished on 32-2. The Misbourne fielders surprised the High with the early Run Out of Harriet.  Fiona pushed the scoring along til she fell to Abbey. Then Imogen(17)  & Elspeth(9n.o.) came together & upped the run rate to ensure victory for the Chesham girls.

Amersham School v Chalfont Community v Dr Challoners

played at DCHS  01.03.04

Amersham School v Dr Challoner’s…… Starting the Challoner’s innings with a 6, captain Alex set the pace before retiring on 20. Then Linell & Abby took up the challenge as they steadily collected runs by quick running between the wickets. For Amersham Becky bowled tightly & Amy threatened to take wickets too but even so DCHS finished on 72. Opening the batting  for Amersham, Mandy & Amy were setting a  good pace, when Alex ran out Amy. Maxine & Sarah chipped in with useful runs & Mandy finished on 8 not out, but the DCHS total was always just out of their reach.

DCHS 72-0   Amersham 39-4                                                                                                   DCHS WIN

Amersham School v Chalfont Community……As the Chalfont bowlers nervously made their debut, Amersham clocked up a challenging 75 runs, with Amy run out on 16. Batting through the last 2 overs.   Becky made  10  & Mandy11.  Chalfont made their way cautiously to 10 & then there was a rash outbreak of catches, as Mandy took 3 wickets in an over, Sarah bagged 2 & Amy 2 more! Skitling Chalfont  for 17

Amersham 75-1                Chalfont 17-8                                                                                          AMERSHAM WIN

Chalfont Community v Dr Challoner’s …...Batting first Challoner’s were soon in their stride,  a swift 20 retired from Alex & a well crafted 13 from Astrid, before she was run out. Jess teased Abby into lifting a catch to Sophie, then Linell chipped in with a useful 8, before Sam took 2 wickets in her last over as DCHS finished on 65-3. Sam & JessF opened Chalfont’s batting with purpose, both hitting 4’s & Jess eventually falling to a sharp run out decision. With 3 overs to go & chasing 60, Chalfont on 36-1, were very much still in the game. But Linell thought otherwise, snapping up Jess B. Abby  slowed the run rate in her last over & Kelly finished on 9 n.o., Sam 16 n.o 9 runs short of a victory.

AYLESBURY GIRLS CC v CHESHAM HIGH SCHOOL

played at Mandeville School  09.03.04

Aylesbury Club’s opener, Ruth  batted throughout their 8 over innings. She looked to be enjoying herself, especially in the last 2 overs , when she was joined by Sandie. Earlier Sarah had lplayed confidently at the wicket but yhen Immy bowled her & the rest of Chesham’s bowlers kept things tight. Replying to Aylesbury’s 37-2, the High were off to a good start as Georgie struck a 4, then batted soundly to eventualy be retired on 20. She had great support from Immy & fleeting contributions from Carys & Hannah! Caira saw out the last over to make sure  61-2 was more than enough to clinch a place for the High in the Bucks final. .
