RESULTS
Aylesbury
Girls U13 v The Rest Of The Bucks Squad! All the U13 squad were on parade
for the opening warm up match of the season. ‘The Rest’ won
the toss and elected to bat. A superb opening over by Michelle
dispensing of both of the opening batsman had the batting side
reeling. But despite this faltering start the remaining batters
managed to dig in to make 72 all out in the last over (Imogen 17
runs and Ros stayed in for 9 overs). Next it was Aylesbury’s turn to
bat. They started convincingly with 26 runs off the first 4 overs.
Then some superb fielding by ‘the rest’ helped to restrict
Aylesbury to 33-4. However this proved to not quite be enough with
Aylesbury finding the winning runs with 2 balls to spare. The rest: 72 all out Aylesbury: 73-6 AYLESBURY WIN On a sunny day at the Lee Hertfordshire won the toss and elected to put Bucks in to bat. The opening bats started steadily, staying in for 0 overs before loosing the first wicket. Hertfordshire managed to make runs hard to come by for Bucks who managed to reach 99-6 at the end of their overs. Tasha J top scored carrying her bat for 31*. A superb first over with a wicket on the first ball from Carys left Hertfordshire reeling. However the next batters dug in reaching 41 without further loss. A. Rogers came on to bowl for Bucks and turned the game Bucks way again taking 6 for 11 off 5 overs. However Herts managed to dig in again reaching 103-8. Bucks: 99-6 Herts 103-8 HERTS WIN Looking for a win, at Bishop's Storford, after last Sunday's close loss to the same opposition, Bucks made a good start. Captain Emily Gray, now fully fit, pushed quick singles, keeping the Herts fielders on their toes as she made her 14 runs. Later Tasha Daly 21 and Olivia Lacey with10, helped Bucks to their final total of 86-8. Rebecca Witherden, 3 for 11 for Herts was their most threatening bowler. In reply, Herts were beginning to look confident when first Carys Webster& then Jenny Banfield made sharp returns from the outfield and direct hits on the stumps to account for both openers. At 23-2 the match could still go either way but tight bowling from Hannah Barton – Jones and debutant Ros Crawley pegged Herts back. Despite a flurry of runs from Rebecca Witherden's 13 N.O., Herts could only manage 71 -6. Bucks 86-8. Herts 71-7 BUCKS WIN
(above: victorious Bucks team leave the field) Playing in the SE Counties Girls League, Ros Crawley's amazing spell of 4 wkts for 5 runs rocketed Bucks U13 girls to a 3 run victory over Berks at Cublington CC. The day started far from confidently as after 4 overs Bucks had only 10 runs on the board and 5 top batsmen back in the pavillion! Carys Webster (26 N.O.) built a reply, first with Alex Rogers (13) and then with Sadie Cole in an invaluable 14 over stand. Bucks finished on a steely 79-9. In reply Berks were ahead of the clock and only 3 wickets down at the halfway point, but when deadly Ros started her 4 over spell clean bowling 3 middle order batters, Berks were soon skittled out for 76 runs, just 3 short of the Bucks total. On Sunday 22nd Bucks girls hope to keep up their winning ways when they play Cambridgeshire at Winchmore Hill CC. Bucks 79-9 Berks 76-10 BUCKS WIN
Above: Bucks Batting 30 overs for 66, helped Bucks U13 Girls notch their third consecutive win. Playing at Winchmore Hill CC Alex featured in a match winning stand of 90 with Carys Webster , to take Bucks to 136-5. Special congrats must also go to Alex for achieving her first ever 50 (shown batting above). Cambridgeshire set off briskly in reply, opener Kathryn Hume hitting 8 boundaries in her 41, but the introduction of Hannah & Imogen Barton Jones (GX) into the attack saw the run rate slow & 5 wickets tumble. Sharp catches by Imogen, Tasha Daly(High Wycombe) & Sarah Jane Bishop(DCHS) saw the visitors skittled for 105. This 31 run victory means the girls hold on to their top spot in the SE Counties League, their next opponents are Hants at Cubblington. Bucks 136-5 Cambs 105-10 BUCKS WIN Opener
Tasha J carried her bat through Bucks 30 overs to register a
career best 49 not out. With support from Alex 19, Carys 14, &
Ros 13 Not Out. The sun blazed down, the breeze was hot &
after copious drinks breaks & a very welcome lolly stop too,
Bucks finished on 134-3. Bucks
bowlers were soon among the wickets, Hannah taking 2 in her first
2 overs. 6 overs later Berks found themselves 4 down with only 9
on the board & never recovered from there. A stubborn knock
came from Helen
Whitlow but cool fielding by Bucks meant 2 Run Outs & Herts
were eventually all
out for 18 in 13 overs. Imy took 2 wickets and Alex, Ros &
Abby shared the rest. Bucks
134-3 Berks
18 all out Bucks win by 116 runs Cambridge
v Bucks @ Whittlesford This
encounter was to be the match that decided the SE League for
2003.Bucks had lost just one match so far, whereas Cambs &
Herts had each lost 2. It was the height of the August holiday
rush & Bucks had just
6 of their original squad available buton the day Becca Coitreon,
Sadie Cole, Alice Duffy & Heather McNeill
volunteered to help us out. Thanks
to an inspired 24 from Alicea and a steady 14 from Tasha J, Bucks
made 66-9, could this prove enough to stretch Cambs.Stretched they
were to start with, Ros & Carys were soon among the wickets
with 2 apiece & Cambs on 13 for 4. Livvy weaved her spinning
spells, 2 more wickets fell……26-6. But there were overs in
hand and number 8 bat Issy Elbourne stuck firm for 27 before being
caught by L:ivvy off Ros. With
the scores now equal,
Ros made a sharp return to run out their number 10 batter….
66-9……Scores equal….Numbers 9&11 at the crease! It was
Cambs nerves that held best, as they scampered the winning run. Cambs win by 1 wkt! U13

Inter County Tournament
at Oundle Sun
3rd August In
our opening game
Middlesex knocked 71-4 off their overs, . Hannah & Ros
who bagged 2 Middlesex wickets each. Our
runs came via sparkling batting by Imy & Alex, but
it took us
awhile to pick up the desired run rate & after the 8
overs we were still11 runs short of victory. Next,
mighty Yorkshire . Emily made 11 runs & we were helped by Miss
Extras. Our total
was almost
enough, as Yorks
hit early runs then slowed after an alert run out by Ros.
Tasha J grabbed a wicket too. But the game was tight to the last,
and they overhauled our score with just one ball to
spare………….. Facing
Derbyshire, Tasha J found her touch & smote 31 not out, Emily
made
a rapid 10,
& saw us to 56-3. Carys clattered 3 wkts for 8 runs off
2 overs. Tight bowling from Alex & Georgie, limited them to
49-5 & we'd won our first match of the day Now
Northamptonshire. Hannah starred with the bat this time,
knocking the ball to all parts of the field for 25 N.O. supported
by Jenny(9) and
Alicea(9) , Bucks finished on 56-4. Imy & Alex bowled
with venom, &
Ros clocked in with 3 wkts for 5 off her 2 overs
while
Northants limped to 31-6. As a result of this win we took 3rd
place in our group. In
the
play off for 6th/7th place, it was
our 'luck' to meet local rivals Herts, The day had been such a
scorcher but
by now all players had a weary plod, Herts
were weary too &
did not take a wicket, as we registered a total of 58.
built by Ros(8) & Alex (37).
In reply we tried 5 bowlers but could not take a wicket
either, until Alex
broke their openers stand. By then Herts were well on their
way to
our total & registered 59-1 with an over to spare. Bucks

Livvy & Tasha D,

Posting 124-4 off 30 overs, the question was, had Bucks put enough
runs on the board? |
