RESULTS
Bucks U13 v Winchmore Hill Colts Winchmore Hill 80-3,
Bucks U13 47-4.
Winchmore Hill win by 33 runs Our
first match of the 2002 season turned out to be a less than
summery event. The
gray evening became gloomier as the match progressed and by the
time Bucks had batted out their 20th over, events on
the pitch were beyond the notice of those on the boundary and
parents had difficulty distinguishing their offspring from
35yards! Winchmore
Hill Colts batted first, their openers Dave P and Javed D put on
38 before the first wicket fell in the 8th over.
The Colts built on this score with some stout hitting from
Ben W and Javed, later to retire on 21. Lucy F and Michelle C
bowled tightly, Carys W and Olivia L gave strong support &
Hannah S put the brakes on their scoring rate, but wickets were
hard to come by. Bucks
batted with determination, despite losing Emily G in the first
over. As the grey mist shrouded the pitch, our batters did well to
keep out the faster bowlers. The umpires could obviously see well
enough as they called 26 wides…extras being the top scorer ! Best
efforts with the bat came from
Natasha D and Kirsty McK,
then later Lucy
F and Charlotte C were
beginning to get bat to ball regularly when the 20th
over was completed, and Bucks still needed 33 runs. This
proved a useful first outing for our squad and thanks are due to
Glynis Culley and her team for helping us prepare our squad for the
season ahead. Thanks
also to Paul Daly who scored and later umpired… versatile chap! BUCKS

U13
v Middlesex (League
AWAY) Middlesex 94 all out in 30 overs
Bucks 60 all out in 29.5 overs New venture for Bucks U13, it was their first match in the South Counties League and their first game of 30 overs. Our bowlers delighted in the longer game, in fact it was top bowling with 7 Middlesex U13s bowled out plus one LBW and just 6 wides. An all round performance deserving an ovation. So how come Middlesex made 94 all out? Their Issy Cannon made 28 before Sian C trapped her LBW. Hannah McM and Alex R showed the way with outstanding ground fielding and throwing, but the rest of the time our teamwork fell away. We missed a couple of early run outs and catches were spilled. The Middlesex total was about 20 runs larger than it should have been. It
was now Bucks turn to bat, opener Emily G batted confidently, ably
supported by Beth J and Hannah McM, but we could not build a
formidable stand. Just when we felt the Middlesex total was
still within our reach, Issy was there again, and she took
the 2 important wickets of Hannah McM and Sian C. We made some
rash shots to straight bowls, took some risky singles and the
match drifted away from Bucks. Great
news we batted through until the last over, our last wicket fell
with one ball left. Our best batters were
Emily 10, Beth
8, Hannah 8. Well
done! Best

Super Stats!!! Sian
18-2, Katie 7-1 Many
thanks to the parent chauffeurs and supporters & especially to
Katie D for letting her Dad be our umpire. Good
pitch, great tea, chilly wind, shame about the jumbo jets swooping
over for a closer look… Wonderful
worms to share with the rest of the team! Soooooooooooo good you were! Captain
planned it, despite interference from Coach/Manager person. Hannah
led from the front
1 for16 off 6overs. Supported
well by fielders & bowlers alike. Alex 1 for 9 off 3,Natasha
J& Jenny B bowling tight , Kirsty Mc chipping away with 3
teasing overs for14.. You all did well to put the brakes on their
scoring for their last 15 overs, at that time they had only lost 1
wicket but their scoring rate did not take off. 135
to win off 30 sounded like a challenge…………Emily &
Kirsty took it on, when Emily departed
our scoring rate was 4 per over, Kaie stayed for 6 overs
& upped the rate to 5 per over. Then
it was down to Captain Hannah & Kirsty to keep the scoreboard
moving, tease the fielders with quick singles, pile on the agony,
& leave the rest of you practicing in the net.(or with the
cows). Until finally,
with 5 overs to spare, Bucks overtook the Herts score! Stalwart
stuff from Kirsty 35 Not Out & Hannah Mc, also
35 Not
Out.Great Win South
Bucks U13 v
Aylesbury Girls
Aylesbury
85-9, S Bucks
86-5. South
Bucks won by 4 wickets. A
tricky match, which mostly dividing the Bucks squad between
Aylesbury Girls and South Bucks a team for the day! Weather
was tricky as well, Aylesbury CC had missed most of the downpours
during the day & a mighty strong wind had blown any wetness
off the pitch,. While we played
huge dark clouds
passed us by, to rain elsewhere. Katie
D opened the batting for the home team with Jenny B. Hannah McM bowled
accurately & took a wicket in her first over, Olivia L
followed suit. Katie
hit a couple of 4's & was looking in control, despite losing
partners at the other end. There was a useful
stand of 21 with Emma M before Emma played back to a
straight ball from Emily G & was adjudged LBW. Katie took her
score to 18 & was the bowled by a 'Sian special delivery'. The
score was 44-4, & it fell to Annabel to take up the challenge
& with 5 hits to the boundary was causing many problems. It
was Sian again who trapped her LBW, when she had scored a
confident 27 and finally put a stop to the Aylesbury run race.
They had made 85-9
after their 10 overs. No
balls & wides contributed 26 runs! S
Bucks openers had much to prove at the start of their innings,
since in the 2 previous matches they had only managed a single run
before losing a wicket!Friday proved soooo different, after taking
the first 3 overs to settle Emily G ably supported by
Claire A, started to increase the run rate. They took S
Bucks score to 58 before Claire A was caught off Katie D's
bowling, for a career best 16!
Emily batted on & was eventually retired after making
31 confident runs. The score was 63.
Emma M struck back bowling
3 S Bucks
batters & than Sian C& Sophie K brought calm among the
panic. Sian C eventually clipping a ball from Kirsty McK to the
square leg boundary to settle S Bucks total at 86-5 with two balls
to spare. |
