NEWS: May 02'

Summer 2002 signals the continued progress off this squad, well done girls, the winter coaching sessions are paying off.  We have won against County opposition more often than in previous years, with triumphs at full 11 aside matches as well as on the tournament scene.

Our trials were well attended & we welcomed 6 newcomers into the squad, 5  girls came from Aylesbury Girls.

We entered the new U13 South Counties  Summer League, played 6 matches & won 3 finishing in third place behind Middlesex & Essex. Startling bowling and great teamwork in the field was often undone by the lack of a similar approach to batting.

We played 4 other matches, losing 3 of them to boys Colts sides but we bowled tightly  and gained valuable match practice. Eight  U13 girls have gained further  experience by playing some matches with the U15 County side.

In the annual 8 aside tournament at Oundle, we had our best result in 6 visits beating Lancs & Oxford, taking Essex and Surrey to the wire but getting a sound beating from Yorkshire.

Our Bucks Festival Week gave the girls the chance to play 4 days of cricket with skills challenges, single wicket competition, 6 aside tournament & a full County fixture…as well as a kwik cricket game with their Mums!

Personal bests abound, 10 girls achieving their best ever scores with the bat. Captain, Sian Culley, was consistently our best bowler. Her amazing 5 wickets for 4 runs, including a hat trick, against Chalfont St Giles Colts was a day to remember.
