The Chesham U13 played in the national outdoor finals at Stowe School. Despite the unreliable weather and at some points torrential rain Chesham had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Winning one and losing one meant the team did not reach the semi-finals but the girls competed with enthusiasm and great team spirit!

Regional

Chesham U13 Girls competed against club sides from other home counties in the SE England Regional Final of The Lady Taverners Tournament, held at Bedford School. The girls maintained high standards throughout the day and played superbly to reach the Lady Taverners National Final for the second year in succession. An embryonic U15 girl’s team representing Chiltern CC put in a credible performance against very experienced and high-quality girls teams from across the Home Counties

Chesham CC U13 squad were defending their Bucks Lady Taverners title when they met Aylesbury Girls and Ballinger in a round robin tournament at Aylesbury, in June. Both Ballinger & Chesham beat Aylesbury girls & then went on to face each other in the final round. With the title, trophies & the entry into the SE Region Finals at stake the match turned into a very close encounter. Chesham were lively & robust in the field limiting Ballinger to 34 runs. There was a touch of relaxation as Ami S set about the Ballinger bowlers & she was retired on 15, but those around her faltered, thanks to an opportune catch from Holly and some tight bowling from Captain Lorna… Ballinger looked to be walking the game. More wickets fell & Ami rejoined Dawn at the wicket, with strict orders to see out the remaining 8 balls & with the hope that the last 5 runs could be found. In the event, extras helped a little & the winning run came with just 2 balls remaining.
