FESTIVAL: 05' The annual Bucks cricket fest was a bit of
a washout with only one day's play achieved. County matches on the Sunday, ‘Turn up & Play’ and
the single wicket competitions all fell victim to the ‘July
monsoon’…. it was the fourth year of the Bucks Fest &
the first time any fest days had been lost to weather… so
perhaps it was due. Nonetheless
it was a minor tragedy for
the continued development of girls cricket as the events have proved an
excellent introduction or extension of cricket opportunities for many
girls. 3 Counties Tournament…. Marlow CC
Bucks U13 B team: Liz B, Tiz B, Elspeth F, Ami S, Charlotte S, Holly B, Harriet S, Frankie W On Tuesday, the only sunny day of the
week, the Under 15s hosted a six a side tournament at Marlow Park
against Berks and Oxon and Bucks The
Under 12s & Under 13s hosted an 8
a side one vs Berks
and Oxon. The U 13 winners were Oxford, Bucks A were second, Bucks B third and Berks 3rd Bucks B 4th. Andrew Wheeler, the ECB Women’s Cricket Development Officer presented awards, to Sabah Hussain from Aylesbury CC, who took 7 wickets in the day and Chloe Lyons from Berkshire received the batting award. The All Rounder’s Award was given to leg spinner Fi Morris from Oxon, who received a special recommendation from the umpires. Bucks U15s retained the trophy with Berkshire runners up. Awards were presented to Alex Rogers (Amersham CC) batting award and Sadie Cole (Chesham CC) for her fielding -3 great run outs. Berkshire U 15s now go to Christ’s Hospital School Horsham for the Southern League Cricket Festival from 1-5th August and hope to compete as well as last year when they were beaten finalists.
