FESTIVAL: 03'

Following the successful festival in 2002, it became immediately apparent that the intense week of cricket had a positive effect on the players with their skills , knowledge of the game and camaraderie increasing noticeably.. Son in 2003 Bucks ran the second week of cricket, The Festival 2003:

The first day of the week was hosted by Aylesbury CC. U13 girls from all over the county came together for a day of competitive cricket, despite the chilly weather the girls had a good day, getting the opportunity to hone there cricketing skills.

The Players And Organisers from Day 1

In the evening the Bucks 'Allstars' were out in force again playing against Oxford and Horspath Ladies. Despite some highly competitive cricket Oxford and Horspath came out deserved winners demonstrating more 'staying power' with there dogged batting.

Hard fought action in the U15 Single wicket

Day two was this single competition at Winchmore Hill CC. Three tournaments were held sideby side with an U15/ U13 and U13 plate, the winners were Hannah McManus, Imogen Barton-Jones and Sadie Cole.

The single wicket competitors

The day proved a huge success with the standard of play increasing throughout the day as the girls began to understand the subtleties of the single wicket game and learnt skills of being a captain and setting their own fields.

Teams battle it out at Marlow CC for the 6 a side trophy

Then it was off to Marlow, with Marlow CC and Marlow Park CC hosting the U15 inter-counties tournament. Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Bucks all entered sides competing for the silverware. It was obvious to all involved that the standard of the cricket in the tournament had increased significantly from the previous year.

Berkshire collect their trophy - single wicket champions 03'

With some huge sixes, stunning fielding and miserly bowling all the sides provided some high quality cricket for the spectators to watch. Berkshire retained their crown As the Bucks Fest' six aside champs beating Cambridge in the final.

After a hard fought day Berkshire regained there crown as inter-county six-a-side champions.
