NEWS: Dec 04

Hello everyone and some information to give you about what is in store for 2005.

For our winter coaching the U17s will be joining the U15s & will have the earlier coaching slot, while the U13’s will follow them.

For the Bucks Squad winter nets there is a charge of £18.00 for the 6 sessions and cheques (preferably) to be made payable to ‘Bucks Cricket Board’ brought with you to the first session. You will appreciate that the charge is irrespective of how many sessions you attend as hiring of the hall and the coaches have to be paid!

Tina has been busy arranging the schools indoor tournaments. The competitions are to find the top U13 & U15  indoor sides in Bucks. The  winning U15 school team will represent Bucks at the SE Regional Competition on Sunday 10 April & hopefully will win through, from there, to the National Final at Lords on Saturday 23 April.

The dates for the Under 15s HOOK Festival are August 1st-5th. You may be aware that

last year the U 15s had a very successful tournament and got through to the final. I would appreciate if you could register your interest in coming with us by the end of January. In the past, Bucks Cricket Board have generously  contributed to the costs of the festival  so I would hope this will be made available again this year. I will know in the New Year of the precise cost. When you register your interest you should give me a deposit of £50.00 (non-refundable) and the cheque made payable to Bucks Cricket Board.

At the present time we are not entering a summer U 17 league but  hope to organize some friendlies.  The summer league for the U 15s this year has changed as we are moving to a different group. It is made up of Bucks, Surrey, Sussex, Isle of Wight and Hampshire. Dates for your diaries for the U15s so far confirmed are as follows:

Friendly vs Sussex Sunday 24th April away tbc

May 31st (Tuesday) Bucks juniors vs MCC at Stokenchurch CC

Sunday 26th June home vs Hants

Sunday 3rd July home vs Sussex

Sunday 17th July Friendly vs Sussex at home

Sunday 24th July away vs Surrey

Saturday 30th July away vs Isle of Wight.

The U 13s played at the Colwall Festival for the first time in 2004, winning 2 of their 3 matches. We expect to be returning this year... dates are from Tuesday 9th August until Friday 12th.   Please contact Tina if you are interested in playing.   There will be eight summer  U 13s league matches home and away against Essex, Middlesex, Herts and Cambs with dates & venues still tbc.

The Lady Taverners Club competition for U13s and U 15s will be taking place once more this summer, as will the Thames Valley Games- which this year is on Saturday 9th July.

We look forward to running The Bucks girls cricket Fest  again on July 25th/26th /27th and the proposed programme so far looks like this:

Monday 25th           Turn up and play 10-3pm.

                        U17s inter-county tournament 3pm onwards-venue tbc

Tuesday 26th          U13s and U 15s inter county tournament-Marlow

Wednesday 27th       Single wicket competition at Chesham. Followed by Mothers and

        Daughters match, bbq and presentations

We hope to have some further friendlies for  U12, U13, U15 and U17 teams and details will be sent out when arranged. As in previous years we would very much welcome any help with the running of the squads, nothing is turned down!

Here's hoping for  another successful and enjoyable year

Eileen Powell U 15s manager, Tina Turner U 13s.
