Cublington Cricket Club
(Girls Section) In 2002 we had 11 girls aged 11-16 years at the club. They managed to play one match (mixed ages) against Aylesbury girls X1 and won! A few of the girls take part in the boys cricket leagues and do very well in their own age groups. We are hoping to enter a local girls league in 2003 with a mixed age team 11-16. It would be great to get more girls down to play and we are always looking for more to join us. We have good coaching and training programmes and have a level 1 female coach, who is very enthusiastic. We also have 10 qualified male coaches. Practice takes place on Saturday mornings, 9:30 - 11:15 starting on the 26th April until the 19th July. For Further information please visit our website http://www.cublingtoncricketclub.co.uk/ Gerrards Cross Cricket Club (womens/girls section) Although still a small section in the Sports Club we offer a variety of cricketing opportunities for women/girls of all ages. In the summer there are weekly net session on Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm. Younger girls play kwik cricket with appropriate coaching and the older girls have net sessions with coaching on hand. A girls kwik cricket festival for local schools will be hosted at the club for yr 5 on May 18th from 1-3pm and on July 6th for year 6 from 1-3pm. With girls cricket growing in the count, district sides are being formed and Gerrards Cross plan to be involved in this new opportunity for girls. Several girls from the club currently play in representative teams for Bucks U13 & U15s county sides. GX are also in the North Bucks Women's League playing 25 over games on Sunday mornings. We won the league in its inaugural year in 2001 and this year 2005 we repeated our success. End of season presentations took place at the club on Sunday September 18th where Emma Jones was awarded player of the year for her contribution with the bat, making 224 runs and for her excellent wicket keeping. Sophie Khaihra won bowler of the year award taking 10 wickets. Contact Eileen Powell 01753 884426 for further details. Organizer Karen McKenzie welcomes girls into the colts section. Many girls join the club at 7 years of age and play in colts matches from the Under 9 age group upwards. colts training takes place every Wednesday Evening from 6.30 - 8.00 pm May through to the end of August, at the club ground, 'Marlins', Cheddington Lane, Long Marston and membership details are available at this time should anyone be interested.
