About Us//

What We Believe
We recognise that prison is used essentially as a means of control by the State. Or as former Mayday 2001 prisoner, Michael Collins, put it "Prison is a weapon used by the State to crush individuals who step out of line". In our support for the prisoners we aim to look at each prisoners case individually.

Although it is not possible for us to support each and every prisoner who might contact us (we primarily aim to support those prisoners who are either wrongly imprisoned or who have carried out some sort of political/direct action/self-defence activity), we will consider all the requests for support that we receive and we will always give a personal reply to everyone who contacts us. Regardless of who they are, all prisoners are being detained against their will by a system which aims to control at all costs.

Group History
The group has been formed with the aim of supporting prisoners locally and internationally. Those attending the meeting felt it was important to form a Bristol ABC as there will be an increasing amount of political repression and already there are people imprisoned for opposition to the system that governs us all.

The groups aims to practically support prisoners by writing letters, sending books and magazines and where possible financial contributions to those inside and visiting relatives and so on.

There will be regular monthly meetings and a regularly updated website, if others wish to join the group.
