THE DIGNIFIED RANT

My Art Tour

Mister's Room

Return to The Dignified Rant

Return to Home Front

This is Mister's room. There is actually quite a bit on the walls. A Lions pennant (God love him, he still has faith. And I've worked to instill loyalty to the Lions even in adversity.), a 2002 Red Wings commemorative print of Steve Yzerman printed from a Detroit paper, a picture of his pee wee soccer team, a photo collection, a University of Michigan football calendar, a crocheted birth announcement made by my mom, a Buzz Light Year clock, and a Dexter's Laboratory poster. But no need for snapshots of these.

On to the art, such as it is. First we have a print of an old train heading through the countryside:

I also have a University of Michigan poster up. It isn't any big deal except that I got it from the university lobbyists in Lansing at some conference or something. I have one up in my office, too. And Mister is a huge University of Michigan football fan. Besides, it fits into the plan of planting the idea that he will naturally go to college one day:

This isn't really art work, but I like how I arranged them. They are postcards representing his mom's line of work. I had put it up as a reminder of his mom while at my place to aid in the transition just after divorce. I didn't want it to be too hard of a transition. In that we certainly succeeded. So this has remained:

Finally, we have this little farm scene:

Not very good, eh? This is kind of an enduring lesson in the folly of arguments. This is from Kroger. My then-wife and I purchased it on one grocery shopping trip. And by "we" I mean she wanted it and I said it was ugly, and we argued over a stupid $5.00 framed print. She bought it just because I insisted we not buy it, I'm pretty sure. It was a pointless argument. So what if I didn't like it? So we were broke? It was still only five bucks. And in the end she bought it anyway. I make mistakes. I try not to make the same mistake too many times. This is my reminder of this particular mistake. And Mister seems to like it.

From here we can go to Mister's bathroom or to the stairwell.
