BOSLER
Bossler and Bosler are German names for 'the
man who lived in or near the woods', from the Old High German busc,
meaning 'a thicket or woods'. In the middle ages when surnames
stabilized and became hereditary in most European countries, people were
often known by the name of the place where they lived, such as a village,
or by a landscape feature near their dwelling, such as a certain kind
of tree, a hill, woods, lake, and so on. These geographical names in Germany,
England and France.

I have been spending quite a bit of time searching the web for information on my family and to my dismay, I have found very little that relates to our branch of the Boslers. I started this page to contribute what I have found and hopefully gain more information. |
