Rules
Here is some basic
information about the tournament.
2006 RULES
CHANGES
There are new rules for the 2006 tournament. This selection
is taken from the 2006 Tournament Release, found
here.
The 2006
Tournament will be met with a major change in the seeding
process. Instead of a simple ranking of the films to
determine which
division each film will be placed, a weighted points system
will be used in order to support different results. For each
movie, board members will
distribute ten points in each of the following categories: (1) entertainment value--how entertaining it is to view the
film; (worth 10%) (2) post-production credits--based on editing, special
effects, music, etc.; (worth 10%) (3) acting performances--quality of acting of the
actors/actresses; (worth 20%) (4) plot strength--is the plot
strong/believeable/well-written/etc.; (worth 30%) (5) "Bond Factor"--are there ingredients of a successful
Bond film? (worth 30%)
PLEASE NOTE... Only
20 seeding ballots will be counted. This will be the first
20 submitted. The dates for submitting your seeding ballots are
February 16-23, 2006. There will be a link available to
submit your ballot when the polls "open."
TOURNAMENT
PROCESS
-
First voting
will consist of a Seeding process, as mentioned above.
-
In case of a tie
in seeding, the movie with the most 1-seeds will take the
position, if neither has a 1-seed vote, then the movie with
the most 2-seeds will take it, and so on until a winner can
be decided.
-
After ranking is
complete, each movie will be seeded and separated into each
of their respective divisions.
-
This tournament
is basically a single-elimination "bracket-style"
tournament, similar to that of the NCAA Basketball
tournament.
-
Eventually, the
matches will play-out and two movies will meet in the finals
to decide the title. Before this match, a consolation match
will be played.
-
In case of a
tie, the match is consideration would coincide with the next
match. Voting will take place on a best-of-three basis, in
which the first three votes using public ballots
only will determine a winner.
-
Polls will close at
approximately 5:00pm Eastern on the designated dates.
RULES
FAQS
-
Does it cost
to vote?
Absolutely not. Registration at the forums is free, as
is voting using the HTML poll.
-
How do I
win? What do I win?
Unfortunately for you, you don't win anything. This
tournament determines what Bond movie the fans believe is
the best in the current year. It's not a contest. All you
win is the pleasure of taking part in a great tournament.
-
Voting is
supposed to be private... what if I don't want people to see
my votes?
Voting isn't necessarily public. Since we use a forum
poll system, the public won't see who you voted for.
-
What is a
"private ballot"?
A "private ballot" is any vote not cast on the official
thread on the BondMovies.com forums.
-
How do I
send a private ballot?
To submit a private ballot, you may use the poll on our
homepage. In the Seeding process, you may e-mail Thuffner or
I your rankings.
-
How is my
vote counted if I vote privately?
Since we use an HTML poll system, it's final tally is
added to the public ballot count on the forums.
-
Am I in the
minority if I submit private ballots?
Absolutely not. Private ballots sometimes make up as
much as 90% of the vote.
-
I'd like to
run this tournament next year. What can I do?
I have decided to run the 2005 tourney and will most
likely do 2006's edition. It may be up for grabs after that.
-
Can I link
to the tournament?
Sure you can. Just provide a link and make sure that I
get credit for the tournament.
