Memories of Blythwood

Nancy (Curran) Gonzalez, Class of '45

Some of my memories of Blythwood:

My home burnt down completely in 1957, destroying all my momentos and photographs etc. from the past. Therefore these photos on this web site brought back many fine memories; especially to see pictures of my self and classmates of so many years ago. I graduated in 1945... a long time ago, yet it seems like yesterday.

I remember having lots of skating parties at the Blythwood rink, and everyone coming to our home, across the street from the school yard, to eat and get warmed up. Also playing basket ball and soft ball. I remember a boy named Reggie, wet his pants in kindergarten, and the teacher sat him on the radiator to dry out. Miss Mae, Mr. Savage, and the principal whose name I cannot remember right now, were so nice to me.

I loved the art programs at Blythwood, and decorated many of the school's windows with paint. I am now an artist painting oils, silk paintings and watercolors even at 70 yrs. of age.

Thanks for this opportunity to attend the 75th Celebration. ...Nancy Curran Gonzalez from Winter Park Florida U.S.A.
