Buena Vista Community Institute (BVCI) is a nonprofit partnership of community and church members organized around social
justice issues for the empowerment of the community. As issues are assessed from a spiritual perspective, broad based,
long-term strategies are developed to mobilize the skills and assets of the church and community. BVCI projects include the
WELCOME Project, the Asian American Summer Youth Institute, and the Alameda Multi-cultural Center. Current funding
comes from grants from the United Methodist Church and foundations.
With a goal to promote wholistic approaches to health and healing, integrating spirit, mind and body perspectives while building
up the collective assets of the Asian Pacific American community.
