When
the time comes all I ask is that YOU choose carefully and if you decide
to vote
for me, that would be appreciated. I have outlined below some of the issues
that I have an interest in and will pursue and advocate when elected
to the Auckland Regional Council (ARC).
I look forward to hearing YOUR views and ideas. I would like to see: |
||
| Support Rodney Business's in the region | Supporting local labour, businesses or suppliers in the carrying out of the design, manufacture, supply, development or construction of any project. The Rodeny Council and the Rodney Economic Development Trust promotes this concept wherever possible and the Council does have a “Buy Local Policy” which was instigated/promoted by myself and does have benefits for the Rodney Economy. I see this policy leading to greater economic benefit to businesses, residents and ratepayers and something that I will promote as your ARC representative. |
|
Penlink (Weiti Bridge) |
Penlink (Weiti Bridge and Roading) project to continue on the understanding that it will not cost YOU the ratepayer anything and will be built as a toll road. With
Councillor Harding, I am the only existing councillor who has supported
Penlink every step of the way.
I have supported the project as I believe that the Whangaparaoa Peninsula
does need an alternative access and that the
Council (and ALL Council members should be supporting this project. The
Council has all consents in place, owns all the land needed to build
Penlink and is working very closely with the government and some
of its departments (Transit and Transfund) to bring the project to a
conclusion. |
|
| Improvement in the Council's Information Technology | An improvement in the Council's information technology to enable residents/ratepayers to obtain as much information as possible via the Internet.
|
|
| Better Communication |
Better communication between the Council, Ratepayers and Residents (YOU) and Business people on the Coast, to get the full benefit from all our visitors/customers and to make the most of our beautiful area. Better Communication between the Council and Developers to ensure that any development is done in a way that does not compromise the lifestyle and features that people moved to Rodney for. |
|
| Allocation of Council Work/Services | The Allocation of Council Work, professional and consultantcy services to local contractors and consultants (if justified) providing it can be done legally and is cost justified. |
|
| A better place to live and work in | That at the end of my first 3 years in office I have helped YOU make Rodney District and the Greater Auckland Area a better place to live and work in. |
