Independent Candidate for Rodney on the Auckland Regional Council (ARC)

BILL SMITH 52 years of age, married for 34 years to Jean with 3 sons - Jamie, William and Tim. Bill and Jean have been Rodney Residents/Ratepayers for 26 years.

As a fellow resident/ratepayer (LIKE YOU) I am concerned to see Rodney develop in a way that does not spoil/destroy the features/lifestyle we moved here for. As a Councillor, and with your help, we can do this by introducing policies that will protect and enhance our environment.

Both the Auckland Regional Council and the Rodney District Council need to involve the residents and ratepayers, business people and developers in decision making and listen carefully to everyone's views.

The involvement of everyone in the planning of our area is very important and we need to make use of and involve those people within our area who are proven specialists/leaders in their field of expertise.

  • Bill is an Independent Candidate who intends to work for the benefit of all of you.
  • Bill will listen to and involve those concerned in decisions that may affect them.
  • Bill will treat everyone equally and treat you how he expects to be treated.
  • Bill will work with the Councillors to ensure that Rodney District continues to provide an acceptable quality of life for ALL residents/ratepayers.
  • Bill will promote and actively encourage investment and economic development in Rodney to keep our workforce here, allowing local jobs for local people, especially our younger people.
  • Bill will meet with the new mayor of the RDC abd the CEO weekly (something that has never been done before) to discuss issues of mutual interest.
  • Bill has no association/connection with any past Council factions or groups.
  • Bill will work with the Penlink Team and Penlink now to get the Penlink (Weiti Bridge) completed.
  • Bill, as a community minded person has supported numerous community groups, (Arts and Theatre) , Sporting and Social groups.

WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER FOR THE BENEFITS OF OUR DISTRICT
