NEW BABY UPDATE!!

Joshua David Hurst was born at 6:18 pm on Friday, May 21th 2004. He was nine pounds even and was longer than a pencil, but shorter than the chupacabras (in all the commotion, his daddy did not ask the length, only the weight.....ya know, for football). UPDATE: JD was 20.5 inches long! JD, as he is known by his family members, came out of the womb liking the Clippers, the Raiders (must be Warren Sapp) and formula. He wants to grow up to be a toddler, and maybe even a fullback (football, not soccer). Thus far, he and his brother Jake, are getting along quite splendidly, although it may have something to do with the influx of toys that were purchased for him (thanks 3rd period for the Toys R Us gift card!), mom and dad are happy nonetheless. BTW, Jake is not attempting to strangle his little brother in the following pictures, he is merely showing love.....

I was born and reared in Canoga Park, an area whose makeup is fairly similar to that of Van Nuys. Although I did not perform too well in high school, through the perseverance of teachers, I made my way to college where I was the first one in my family to graduate. I currently hold two Bachelor of Arts degrees; one in the area of English with an emphasis in literature, and the second in literature of the theater. I am also concurrently working on Master's Degrees in both the areas of Education and English, and I currently hold a teaching credential in the state of California. I am proud to say that I am a product of public schooling, the elements of which came from the very same books and teachers that your children are learning from today.
Aside from my students (of course), my life revolves around my wife and sons. Mrs. Hurst (yes, she was a teacher so she is entitled to be called "Mrs.") and I have been married since 2000, Jakob was born in 2002, and JD was born in 2004. Although I doubt that they will be around to play on the "world champion" Chatsworth Chancelors team by then, watch out for the "Hurst Boys" dominating a football field and baseball field near you from 2014 to 2020!

Away from school, as everybody knows, I am a proud supporter of the Los Angeles Clippers! Much to the ridicule of my friends, family members and of course my students, I am a season ticket holder of what at least one publication has referred to as the worst franchise in professional sports.
